Introduction

Hello Scratchers! I have recently noticed that many users, especially new users as there is no current guide of doing this, are struggling to add a profile picture to there account. I have made this guide so that users can change there picture on demand if they every forget, or new users would like to find out.

Step 1

This may seem very obvious to some, but I have found a couple of users looking round the links at the bottom of the Scratch website. Those links are not for customizing anything, but are for guidelines and other copyrighting laws. I'd recommend that new Scratchers do check the guidelines from time to time, do visit here.



Locate this place on your profile, and see the next step.

Step 2

Hover your mouse over your current profile picture, this will reveal a button that is labeled with ‘change’. When this button is clicked, with luck a new window will open with your last image folder you was in, of course your can browse through your other folders and find the image that satisfies you.



As you can see above I have chosen the new image that I would like to use, once you have done this click open, this will then open the file and Scratch will use the image as your new profile picture. If this has not happened, please see the trouble shooting below.



Trouble Shooting

Sometimes Scratch does not allow you to upload some images, see some of the trouble shooting tips below too see why your image cannot be uploaded,

1. Its too big. If an image is too large for a small thumbnail, then your image cannot be uploaded to the Scratch Website.
2. The GIF is too long. Scratch profile pictures can be a GIF, but if the file is too large then that GIF cannot be supported.
3. Some browser don't get along with some websites, change or try a new browser, I find chrome works very well. But FireFox works as well.
4. A new network or computer. Don't literally buy new broadband or computer. Just try it when your round a friends or at school, this may get around it.

Just find someone using that picture and save it to your computer. Then, follow WASDgamer's steps.

OK I know how to do this, I just came here to figure out how big the image as to be. Does anyone know, I'm making my own image but I can't finish until I know the required resolution.

well I know how u can make your own… use a paint program eg: (obviously) paint save it then when u go to change go where ever u saved it and upload it! u can also simpliy right click a animated gif or normal pic u want save as and then u can also do the same.. upload! u can also do this with other scratches avatars! HOPE IT HELPED!

Well first of you can't have a thumbnail bigger than 1MB so watch out!. Ok. You click on the blue Scratch cat (You must have photos on your library to have a thumbnail) then you go to photos and click on one photo. Then look at the bottom of the screen and see how big it is (KB is smaller then MB) so if it's; well lets just say 5.37KB then you can select that photo and it will come up as your thumbnail.

Have it showing on the stage as the only sprite before saving the project.

Yes, that helped me a whole lot.
