make a scratch editor dark theme

Hello

The dark theme existed in Scratch 1x, but the developers got rid of it in 2x.

Why not re-implement it? Sometimes bright white can be straining to the eyes, hence need for an option to enable a dark mode.

I like this, it would be easier if editing a project at night. Maybe have a button in the corner of the editor titled “Switch theme”?

YES! It would also be nice if the piece you're editing is white/editor colored. I know that's probably half the reason for the checkered background, but it's still a bit confusing.

truly?

isn't this just a website editor concept?

wow

I'd actually hate that, if the blocks are taller, it'd take up more workspace.

I don't think it's a design prototype, because it use the code of Github's Scratch 3.0.

Also, there is a zoom, and not like 2.0 the work area is infinite.

I hear Scratch 3.0 will be written in HTML5 and Js, so you will likely be able to target elements in the editor and restyle them using CSS. So you may be able to do this yourself rather soon!

Support! That would be great! I want that outside of the editor, too.

This topic's still relevant, and they're adding a few ideas to the suggestion.

Plus, that user originally made a topic with this suggestion, maybe don't be so quick to point out someone is necroposting.

Anyway, I just realized I never said anything here, although I've given my support on previous topics like this. As another user said, an option to do this outside the editor would be nice too, and I support since looking at a bright screen for a while (especially at night or in a poorly lit room) can hurt my eyes.
Maybe a “twilight” mode can be added as well? I can see that being quite useful, maybe if a user only wants it partly dark.

Support! This would be nice to have, even just for appearance's sake. Maybe the brightness could adjust itself according to the current time of where you are; so if it's like 4AM (still dark), the editor would be dark but slowly brighten as time goes on and the sun rises…

That would be an interesting option! Of course, we'd have to have something that'd either sync up with your computer's time or something that'd let you select time zones, and this should be optional too.

I suppose this ties in with the “twilight” mode I suggested, which'd only make it partially dark.
