Mission Scratch Equality! (MSE: We'll Do This!)

Hi! I'm Snowdrop.

And today I'm here to talk about something, Mission Scratch Equality.
Many scratchers are underviewed and many are viewed a lot. I know that popularity doesn't matter in scratch, but what's the point of making projects if you know that nobody, or at least not many scratchers, are going to see it? Like what if someone worked really, really hard on a project, hoping that it would attract some attention, and it didn't even earn one love or favorite? Kind of like this and this. Those are only two examples; there are many more out there!

I'm really sorry if this is already a topic . I don't really have the time to search through all of the forum pages (there's a loooot!) and my search doesn't really work that well (ok, maybe that could be a problem).

Just saying…

Well, ok, now I can just talk more about the subject. I know that this might be hard (after all there are about 12 million scratchers out there, good job MIT!), but I know that if we try, it's completely possible.
One approach to this problem, please do not judge me , might be to set up a Underviewed Scratcher of the Day thing on the front page. Like maybe every day or so, another underviewed scratcher could be on the front page so more people could view them and so that the scratcher will feel more welcome into the scratch community. This could take a few days to set up…so…well…it's for a good purpose, guys! (um I mean scratchers)

So yeah, that's about it! Please reply if you think it's a good idea, and try to get members of the scratch team to do something about it too.
And, of course, the scratch motto:

forever
imagine
program
share
end

the colors weren't right :( like no offense so…yeah um hi it's snowdrop meow sorry

-Snowdrop, huge fan of scratch and (hopefully) future Scratch Team member :)

No support. Scratch isn't about popularity.

No, you're not crazy, I did use to support. I edited my post because I no longer believe popularity and followers are important parts of Scratch.

There are a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to topics like these. How would they pick the users? How would they be impartial? Overall, though, it's a good idea.

P.S If this doesn't get implemented, you could always make a studio for the same purpose. Even if it doesn't get popular, the people you are featuring in the studio would certainly feel good about it.

How would this work? You can't be like “HEY YOU IM FORCING YOU TO LIKE THIS PERSONS CONTENT BECAUSE EQUALITY”
In my opinion, it's really subjective- people decide what they like, and you can't change that.
No Support, but you could always do your own little thing.

No support, would be a lot of work on the ST's part, and Scratch isn't about views, loves, favorites, or follows.

12 million users? That is going to be a big problem. First, you need to define what “unpopular” means. There are so many scales to popularity, it begins to get quite ambiguous between users. Also, how will they select those users? It just doesn't really make that much sense.

Next, Scratch isn't about popularity. Scratch is about programming, and there are actual purposes for the social media properties when sharing something onto the website. For example, Comments were designed to bring feedback to others projects. Followers were made so that people can actually get updates. It is not intended to be a “Popular-o-meter”.

If they don't get a like and they have to pout about it, then something is not right. Scratch should not be someone's primary life. Besides, the internet is such a big place, and you can't name all of the created projects on Scratch. With that kind of logic, you might as well name every single city in the United States.

Sorry, but I can't support. Scratchers need to realize that Scratch can't be their primary life.

It's ok that you don't support but, only about one project is featured every day, and there are around 16 million projects in Scratch so that really isn't very much time to feature many projects altogether. (Hey, or maybe 2+ projects could get featured daily!) And, no offense, I'm not sure how the link relates to this…

I'm not trying to force people to “like” other people's stuff, maybe just check it out. And if they like it, that's great! If not, it's still ok. So…it's really nothing to do with force

Ohhhh. That's what the link was for . Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I understand Scratch has nothing to do with fame, but the scratch motto says “Imagine, Program, Share” and the “share” part also implies that there's another person on the other side of scratch also seeing the project.
I'm not trying to force you to change your mind, just making my opinion clear.

Well, Scratch is about coding things and also sharing them and other people seeing them, and I bet other people feel bad when they see all the attention another scratcher has. Scratch is supposed to be fun and a friendly environment, so, I'm just trying to keep it friendlier (is that a word?).
I'm not trying to force you to change your opinion, just clarifying mine.

It's okay. “Share” might be about remixing and stuff like that.
