Intro & Features:

I've been wanting to make a card game on Scratch for a really long time, but never got around to actually starting until now. The game is going quite smoothly right now, and I believe that I can follow through with this collaborative effort and make the game great. Some features that are currently available to everyone are the menu, which you can view here, as well as a project to get cards for the game, which you can view here. Inside of the menu project, I've set up some GUI, and most importantly a shop. The shop runs on a single cloud variable so that it displays the same card to everybody that's running the game. A new card is added every 10 minutes. The best cards will be put in manually by me from time to time. As for the amount of cards in the game, I plan to have 80 cards. 65 of them are regular cards, and 15 are rare, jade cards. The list of everyone will be at the bottom of the post.

Planned Features:

• Card evolution -
Increase the statistics of a card via “Evolution Card.”
• Obtaining cards -
After winning a battle, you may choose one of their cards. Opponents cards are random, but influenced by difficulty. (Higher difficulty = better cards)
• Losing cards -
Cards can be lost by selling them or losing a match. The card that your opponent chooses is influenced by difficulty. (Higher difficulty = more likely to choose your best card)
• Selling cards -
Cards can be sold for currency. Amount of currency is influenced by the card's rank.
• Card shop for new scratchers -
One issue with the cloud-based shop is that new scratchers can't use it. Therefore, a non-cloud based shop will be added.

Updates

I've decided that I want to actively update this thread with my ideas for the game. In order to keep the game balanced, I've come up with some ideas:

• Mana - A substance that allows you to activate cards in battle. More rare cards will cost more mana, which forces players to balance their composition.

• Card Packs - A pack of cards that can only be gotten by leveling up and collecting the right amount of a special ingredient. Contains the highest chance of Jades and EVOs. Rarity of cards received is influenced by player level when received.
- Concept art can be viewed here.
• Pack Shards - The special ingredient mentioned above. Collect enough of these by winning battles. Amount of shards need and amount of shards received is heavily influenced by player level and match difficulty.
• Battle Engine - Probably the most difficult thing to figure out. I want it to be more skill-based than card rank, but I still want card ranks to factor into it. I'm still trying to figure out how to integrate mana into it, but it's definitely turn based and fast paced! (Hey, that rhymed!)

• Nothing major, I just wanted to state that I'm trying my best to make the game different than ScratchDeck by making the battle engine more strategy based and also by making it more balanced! I still liked their game and I will certainly link it in the final game!
• New member: @Incro! We welcome Incro to the team. His knowledge of cloud multiplayer brings completely different opportunities to the table! With that being said, we have some new ideas for the game which can be read below.
• Concept art for the card packs is done, and you can view it here in the updates above!
• With the possibility of cloud multiplayer, I've been thinking of ways to enhance gameplay for new scratchers that can't access it yet. I was thinking of a high risk-high reward game mode where the CPU's cards are generated solely by random and not influenced by anything. Still, with a roughly 19% chance of having to play against a jade card, there may need to be some kind of influence. The rewards will be influenced by how many matches you played, and how difficult your opponent's cards were, but I still need to figure out some kind of formula for that!

Slots

I would like to collaborate on this project because it seems like a fun thing to do with other people. Here are some things that you must have:

• Inkscape (free)
• Notepad++ (free)
• Roboto (font/free) [download here]
• Time
• Common knowledge of Inkscape and/or Scratch programming

Those are five must-haves for joining the collab. For those who are wondering, Notepad++ is a notepad program that I used to write the list of cards. Files like card templates, designs, and Notepad++ files will be shared via Mediafire, a file sharing program that is 100% trustworthy. Those are the things I need for you to help out.17
