A 'Greyscale' Effect
Please be more descriptive. Grayscale could be any number of things.
Do you want to just use the gradient function from one gray shade to the other?
Do you want a color picker box filled with all gray shades from black to white?
Do you want the ability to set it so all color is grayscale? (Highly unlikely but that's why we need descriptive suggestions!)

That block actually used to exist, but it was removed because it was buggy. However that was in 1.4, and it would probably be possible to make it in 2.0 without bugs, so support to bring it back.
set [saturation v] effect to ()block, where a negative value would make the sprite more greyscale, and a positive value would make it brighter. Presumably -100 would be complete greyscale.

Could be useful for animations and stuff. Also, if it used to exist, then why not bring it back? Doesn't really hurt, it's only adding an extra option to an already existing dropdown, so it's not much more clutter.

Ooo I like this one! I could very much see this being used as a way to make old timey games/cartoons without having to guess what colours would look like in greyscale! Support.

Hehe, workaround time.
edited because I didn't remember pressing quote on the OP but apparently I did
set [color v] effect to ([1]/[0])OR
set [color v] effect to [infinity]“Infinity” is the Undefined of Scratch, and both these workarounds set that to the color effect. It turns the target sprite greyscale.

This is pretty useful if you want to make a project that appears old-timey (or just use greyscale in general) using the built-in sprites but don't have the time to recolor them, and not everyone knows about the color effect divided by zero workaround, support.
let's hope jlnilocalsip doesn't find this
