Not to be negative, but I strongly dislike poetry. I guess my favorite would be the kind that doesn't rhyme.For the latter, you really aren't missing out on much. I found Romeo and Juliet dull, and the fact that Romeo seems like an obsessive stalker when you analyze his personality in the beginning kind of ripped apart the idea of a story about ‘true love’. That's only one of his works, though, so eh.
And reading Shakespeare is like reading gibberish of another language.
I liked Mercutio, though. Mercutio was a funny character. 'Course he was killed off…

Anyone notice how in Much Ado about Nothing, there's another friar who makes another plan to create another fake death?Not to be negative, but I strongly dislike poetry. I guess my favorite would be the kind that doesn't rhyme.For the latter, you really aren't missing out on much. Favourite poem? Uhmm. . .
Here's two of my favourites:
The Thought-Fox
By Ted Hughes
I imagine this midnight moment's forest:
Something else is alive
Beside the clock's loneliness
And this blank page where my fingers move.
Through the window I see no star:
Something more near
Though deeper within darkness
Is entering the loneliness:
Cold, delicately as the dark snow,
A fox's nose touches twig, leaf;
Two eyes serve a movement, that now
And again now, and now, and now
Sets neat prints into the snow
Between trees, and warily a lame
Shadow lags by stump and in hollow
Of a body that is bold to come
Across clearings, an eye,
A widening deepening greenness,
Brilliantly, concentratedly,
Coming about its own business
Till, with sudden sharp hot stink of fox
It enters the dark hole of the head.
The window is starless still; the clock ticks,
The page is printed.
I have another one pinned to my wall, a gift from my ex English teacher, who retired. It's called The Door and written by Miroslav Holub. I would type it up, but eeh. I'm bored copying.
Any thoughts on these? Has anyone read either one?
