Is there anyway of simply controlling a servo from scratch without using Wedo extension?

We have done lots of things with the great Wedo extension but now need to use the Arduino for this new project.

I have looked at ScratchX but this needs some kind of online Github account access to the arduino javascript extension.

A step by step guide would be useful.

You don't need a GitHub account unless you want to make your own extension?

You can go to http://scratchx.org and choose the Arduino extension.
