Reading the .sb2 files is the easy part. You also need an interpreter for the code. Make sure to include kumquat repellant code.

As many of you have pointed out, there's a need for a Scratch project player that works on mobile iOS and Android devices that don't support Flash. Tim Mickel, an MIT undergrad who worked with LLK, created a foundation for an HTML5 Scratch project player. But it still needs a lot of work. We decided to release the unfinished HTML5 player code under an open source license, and ask for contributions from the greater Scratch community.

Do you know someone with Javascript / HTML 5 skills that would like to contribute to Scratch? Please ping them with a link to the html5 Scratch project player on github!

We don't plan to add any new features that the current Flash-based Scratch player doesn't support. Our goal is to make a player that plays Scratch projects exactly the same as the flash player. We've made a test harness, included with the source, so that coders can view projects in the flash player and the html 5 player side-by-side, to better isolate and fix differences in performance or behavior in the html5 player.

Here's jTron's instructions for getting it running on a Mac.
Here's Zatherz instructions for getting it running on Linux

Thanks, and Scratch On!

I know someone at my school (removed) that knows about javascript. But the problem is, is that I have to ask the teacher if my friend can edit javascript. I have a 92% feeling that she will say no. When ever you will contact me in Scratch, I will ask the teacher if my friend can edit scratch with
Javascript as soon as i can.

Sincerely, Siwel_Tech

So I don't know much of Html5. Just a know a little CSS3 and HTML5 to make a simple webpage. However i had the idea to bring html5 and combine it with flash to form a new scratch system that looks the same, feels the same, same features using both Html5 and flash. As you all know html5 doesn't support camera. However flash does. But html5 supports everything else, so why use flash? Well it like I said supports the camera. So if we combined flash and html5 in the scratch editor we would have every feature for everyone except camera on some devices!

Who said html5 doesn't support camera?

I'd love to help! I've been looking to work on my JavaScript skills, plus I've been looking for some GitHub repos to contribute to
I'll see if I can make some changes and then send a pull request.

People this topic is crucial, as more and more kids will go mobile only, and we all know Flash is doomed on mobile platforms.

I do not think I could be useful, except maybe as a tester, but it is kinda tricky to make this work…

I activated the apache web server on my OS X 10.11 MacBook, but I cannot reach the folder containing the html5 master - the path http://localhost/~(myusername) is not working I tried different paths but without success, anybody could help?
