Tomorrow is the big day! Apple's event happens tomorrow in the Yerba Buena center in San Francisco! Likely a new iPad will be released, new iPad mini with a retina display, the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks.

Do you think there will be any surprises? Will the new iPad have Touch ID? iPad Mini?

Any surprises? I doubt it. But the fact that the iPad mini is finally getting Retina Display is pretty exciting.

I recently cracked my iPad 2 screen so I will be selling it and pre ordering the next iPad. Thought about saving some money and buying the Mini but I already have lots of accessories that won't be compatible with the mini so I'll probably stick with the iPad.

Maybe they'll reveal how their design team makes their promo pics in Microsoft Word.

Although retina display is great, I don't think it's too needed always. It can = more lag.

Anyways, nothing new from Apple today. iPad 5, retina mini, woopty doo (yeah, I said it). Everything else is just a review of what was already announced.

Eh, well, I'm still happy with my 3rd generation iPad so I won't be upgrading.

Haha yep. Sadly, Steve will only be a username now and I think my iPad air will be named Patrick or Gerald.

I hadn't realised that the announcements had happened. Excellent news. I was planning on getting a MBP for video work but found the old specs underwhelming.

And does anyone know if old versions (Lion+, iWork 09+) will be free, or just the new ones?

I don't think it will be more laggy. It has the new 64 bit A7 processor which is twice as fast as the A6 afaik.

I seen 30 minutes of the event video on the Apple website at school in my spare time. I like that they made the new OS X update free. I will have to take my MacBook Pro to school to update it on their free Wi-Fi because the Internet speed at home would take 6 hours to download and it is a waste of money. I used to pronounce OS X as “OS X” until the video said “OS Ten”.

Yes.

I think the name is throwing people off. It's not a separate type of iPad, it's the 5th gen iPad and it's just called the air because it's so thin and light.

I love the iPad air tv ad, it's one of my favorite apple ads.

iOS 7. Standard fare, nothing radical here.


Anyway, I was actually fairly satisfied with yesterday's announcements. I feel that the newer iPads are the first legit update in a while to come from Apple. I also am glad to see the release of Mavericks for free. I hope to throw a copy of 10.6 in a VM and grab this. IDK what the power consumption would be like compared to Windows on Windows OEM hardware. Hopefully that will let me actually try iOS dev for once. Especially on Surface.
