Message Icon in Editor

I think we need a message Icon while in the editor. This way, we don't have to click the my stuff, and all that. When you click the messages, it brings down a little page that shows what messages have come.

UPDATE: Many people think that this would be too distracting, and for some people, it would. What if there was a simple switch next to the notifier to turn it off

I think it's not there to minimize distractions - when you see a message come up you want to check it, and if you're really popular it can be difficult to get any work done.
