W.D. Gaster Theories (Undertale)
Use this forum topic to talk about W.D. Gaster theories (he's a mystery character in a pc game called Undertale)! Such as that I have discovered that in the Undertale demo there is a sound file called grandpasemi.ogg in which only has a techno version of the first five seconds of Crowbar Crusher (first mettaton theme) and “Semi” is an actual font! In which I think could possibly be what Gaster used to be before he was erased!!

W.D. Gaster Theories (Undertale)
W.D. Gaster is a mystery, but there's a theory going around that he's Sans and Papyrus' creator or father.
I believe that theory.
1. In the “Entry Number Seventeen” room, Gaster writes, “WHAT DO YOU THINK, YOU TWO?”
“You two.”
Sans and Papyrus.
2. In Sans' room, there's a picture of “three poorly drawn people with the words ‘never forget.’ on it.”
Three people.
Sans, Papyrus, and the man who's mystery we're trying to solve..
W.D. Gaster.

grandpasemi.ogg is used now, but it's now called “grandpatemi.ogg,” and you hear it when you are fighting a Temmie and don't give her Temmie Flakes. Use this forum topic to talk about W.D. =O I FOUND THE BEST THEORY PAGE EVER!
Well, back to the topic. I'm putting together a theory on how Gaster REALLY died. When talking to his followers, they talk about how he died. It's not really clear on how he died, though. Mostly because each follower has their own story to tell about the event.
Also, looks like Gaster might be the creator of the skelebros we all know and love.

“It is a marvel to exist outside the passage of fate. The lives created by Zanza and Meyneth inevitably attempt to escape the passage of fate. This signifies the beginning of their destruction. Meyneth accepted this, and entrusted the future of this world to you. Many times, your visions have allowed you to change the passage of fate. You saved the lives of those destined to die. Nothing that exists is perfect. It is a sad truth, but you can learn from it and begin the journey on a new path. Not Zanza's path, but one that you forged yourselves. So decide, Shulk. Will you walk the path layed out by Zanza? Or will you walk a new path?” - Alvis (Xenoblade Chronicles)

So we're talking about W.D.Gaster theories here eh? Sounds fantastic! He's a very mysterious character, and in my opinion deserves a bit more attention. And this forumms a good place to open discussion! Anyways, on to actually theorizing.
It's pretty much accepted in the fanbase that gaster used to be a skeleton due to his name being derived from the Fonts, “WingDings” and “Aster”. Making His Full name Wingdings, Aster. Maybe he chose Gaster as a nickname of sorts because of this? That wasn't really much of a theory but I thought it was a fun little thought. :3

Well, what I believe (from his followers) is while working on his new invention (the core) he fell from the top, now since the thing was still under construction, he probably fell into some pool of power waste. This while being waste, was still very powerful, and ripped him from reality. Causing cracks, being mute, and a new set of clothing along the way. He now lives as only a hallucination in the waterfalls only to be seen by the people who like to follow different rules, his rules. He was the royal scientist he was an intelligent man who could get through anything, code, fights, formulas, you name it. So when you play with those fun values and room IDs your being a Gaster yourself, your getting through to see what others can't. This probably just hogwash but I just wanted to chuck it out there. Now, due to your last statement about the skelebros, it's probably quite true, due to his name also being the name of a font the the skelebros and also looking like a skeleton. More evidence is that in his “Entry 17” statement he ends it with “What do you two think?” which means he's probably talking to Sans and Papyrus.

W.D. Gaster Theories (Undertale)
Here is my theory:
Gaster accidentally created Sans and Papyrus from bone fragments in his hands when trying to create clones of himself. Sans came from Gaster's right hand, his dominant one, while Papyrus came from his left. He cared for the two before slipping into the CORE, which, as it works between a mix of unstable magic and science, did the deed of spreading him ‘cross time and space, “like puzzle pieces in an infinitely large room”. Sans, Alphys, Undyne, Asgore, and the RiverPerson all remember him for their own reasons:
Alphys and Sans used to be with Gaster all the time, Alphys being the assistant at the time, Sans…well, he’s Gaster's kid. Papyrus doesn't remember because he was really young at the time of the incident.
Speaking of really young, Undyne used to get piano lessons from ol' Dr. G when she was six. He was an ameture mucisian, and lent her his piano for her to practice, where it resides to this day. She only remembers him faintly, being young at the time.
King Asgore is self explanitory, as he was most likely the one that appointed him.
The RiverPerson is a mystery in their own right, but I believe that they might have been either working with Dr. G, or been a close friend.
If I need to explain myself, feel free to ask me.

I dunno how many of you know this, but I think this is pretty logical:
Gaster and “The Man Who Speaks in Hands” are two different people.
Gaster is the ghost dude in the secret room “room_water_redacted” most likely because this guy is speaking in Wing-a-ding-a-ding-dings, and because he says “Redacted”, it most likely means he is referring to the fact that he's dead.
And the Man Who Speaks in Hands is actually the skeleton guy with two cracks in his head, most likely because he doesn't have text dialogue.
