I tried to make a website with a free .TK domain and told my friends but they said an advertisement popped up when they typed in the link.

Has yours ever redirected to advertisements before?

I've tried to go to numerous tk sites before only to find out that it redirects me to potential malware. It's the reason why I don't like going to sites sith a tk domain, and you might not know that the address has expried.

After registering a domain (and this goes for any registrar, including Dot.TK and others), you must wait for a process to complete which is called DNS Propagation.

DNS is run by a network of servers, however not all of them are updated immediately. It can take up to 24 hours for all of the DNS servers to acknowledge a change, in this case, your new domain registration.
DNS servers can hold outdated records for a fair amount of time due to the above. Dot.tk domains are by default set to resolve to malware sites - which is not a good thing

Your domain will only resolve to your site if the DNS server has the correct record. In effect, the solution to your problem is to hold on tight and wait.

Sometimes you can decrease the propagation time for yourself by using Google DNS, which has the IP addresses 8.8.8.8, and 8.8.4.4. It's a good idea to look at how you can set your DNS Servers for your particular operating system.

I only trust mrcomputer1.tk because I have visited it multiple times, but I still do not download anything from it. I just screenshot images of and images I want to download, such as the progress bar in my signature.

I always am very careful with .TK sites since my computer (Windows 7) is quite old.

dot.tk is a piece of trash. They'll close your website if it gets too much visitors.

I suspect this is what they did to a site of mine. I was getting something like 300 unique visitors per day and all of a sudden they suspended my site for “breaking the guidelines” and displayed ads on the domain (most likely to make loads of cash money off popular sites). They wouldn't even tell me what I did wrong; suspicious…

The TBGs also got redirected to an ad page claiming that I didn't renew the registration but I definitely did. NEVER use dot.tk for a proper website, pay the few dollars for a proper domain.

There's things like Bitcoin, but I'd prefer using Dogecoin.

Well, with Dogecoin, I'm pretty sure you just have to feed it to a dog and the dog will give you the equivalent value. Bitcoin sounds a bit trickier and more esoteric, but I hear a lot about “mining” and so I think you have to find a cavern and plant it in the rock and wait until it grows in to Bitcoin ore, which you can then mine and melt down into pure Bitcoin.

This happened to my site! Luckily, I made a backup and just used Weebly to host it instead. Trolololol

I hate .tk domains. I set it to go to my site, and when I do mysiteadress.tk/afolder it doesn't even work and just redirects you to the homepage.

That's because it's like an IFRAME rather than an actual domain.

Yeah you didn't set your domain up right.
