How do you get attention/expossure for your projects here?

I know, i know, I've seen the guides out there, but the don't seem to work.

I understand the demographic of scratch is not professional, but i do make good project now… But no one really sees them.
I see plenty of other projects of similar type getting tons of attention. Not threads or signatures seem to help. I was wondering if anyone knew of other, successful ways? Do/did you you have a popular project? How did it get popular? I know i don't make garbage, but it seems like nothing of mine ever gets a lot of attention… Almost like a curse.

How do you get attention/expossure for your projects here?

I've always been kind of down there for the first year and 5-6 months of my time on Scratch. I usually got a maximum of about 100 views on a project. My highest viewed project had about 430. That was until these recent months, July to be in particular, when my snowball fight animation was curated. That project itself then got over 5000 views, 1000 love-it's, and more. Then all of a sudden, my followers jumped, and my next project I made wasn't curated or featured, but made most-loved (it was this project). How did that get popular? Part of it was from my popularity of my curated project and the increase of followers, but I think my signature really made it popular (thanks to dracae). I'd say an attractive signature is great for advertising. Then, my project Scratch Warp was just featured and has over 7000 views, so I guess I just got lucky but I know how you feel, and that feeling is what has made thousands of users leave Scratch. I think advertising on Show and Tell and signatures are the best way to advertise.

If you want I'll advertise for one of your games along with my collab in my signature? I'd be glad to

And ask Wes64 how he got popular.

Well ‘popularity’ all depends on what you make, the actually experience tied with your projects, wether you have “followers” (people who view your projects 24/7, or who would willingly advertise for you), how you act, if you're active in the website, and lots of other factors. Yes, you may have been making good projects, but I haven't been seeing much… content. You like to make lots of experiments and art projects that high-light one thing. Meanwhile, when you do release your next project with Aragon, I expect that should become ‘popular’.

As for tips, have you ever tried using the Show&Tell forums, or leaving more comments (make them quality) on other's projects? The latter will leave lots of good memories across Scratch of you, and so people will be more likely to visit you. I don't remember if you've tried this yet, but how about including some small advertisement in your signature?

With regards,

ErnieParke

To both:

Thanks, and yes, I am doing all of that. I have a featured studio and thus look over and give tips to people about their projects.

And I know what you mean, Ernie, when you say “not much content”, because scratch lags so bad on my computer right now that I cannot release an already finished game I made.

I have strong feeling against spamming for followers, as some have done to get real popular, so I don't do it.

As I was thinking about this today, I found that the people who are most popular all seem to either be animators making funny/stupid animations, or have som much time on their hands that they can release a lot of well made games.

To be honest, being “famous” in scratch would be nice, but I really don't care about that as much as leaving a legacy for others to look up to and getting good exposure for my projects.

So yeah, once the lag is killed, my stuff will have more than art….. Though tons of art gets tons of attention anyway.

Also, how did you know about my last game? The project advertising it is not very popular.

Thanks guys….. And, do y'all know what hosts to use for making your own banner? (Meaning the ones that scratch approves.) I couldn't find a page about it.

Turkey: thank you so much for the offer, and I will take you up on it if it's still available. First I need to find a good host for making my own advertisement pics, so if you still are offering that when I make them, I will let you know.

Also, could y'all check out “dream your design!” and tell me what you think of the idea? I probably know what you're going to say, but it would still be nice to hear from y'all.

I suggest tinypic, as it's safe and you don't even need an account, you can find the hosting services here. Most people go with tinypic. And yes, the offer's still available; I still have a whole nother side of my signature to do. I can even make a signature and post it on a project and someone can host it (I usually don't host my pictures). I'll check out that project when I can, but I'm on iPad now.

Yes, I do know of several good hosts. tinypic is good if you want to post things without really having an account. As for the other approved ones, you can find the list in the BBCode topic, in the section where it talks about embedding images. Here's the topic: Topic

Also, I'll stop by soon enough, probably tomorrow.

And about your game, you told me about it. Don't you remember?

Anyway, it's about time for me to get off for the night, so good night!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

And Ernie, i know you know, but you're not the only one on this thread. Oh, and it's not a game.

And, Turkey, thank so much, i will tell you when i get that banner up.

It will probably be a square, as i would like to advertise several of my projects at a time.

Good night y'all,

Regards,
