Some Scratchers Are Quitting because their projects are unpopular?

Just randomly looking around scratch, I find a project by a user.

It mentions that his/her projects didn't live up to the expectations, and that he/she
is quitting because of the popularity reason.

The user is now inactive.

The project gave me a thought. Maybe Scratchers are leaving because of their unpopularity.

If you have a family problem, or something that really needs to stop using Scratch, then that's
ok.

But now I have a theory. Some Scratcher's are leaving scratch not because of personal problems,
but because of unpopularity.

One of my friends quit Scratch because he needed to do some other things.

Do I blame him? No. But I also don't blame Scratcher's leaving scratch.

To all the unpopular scratchers, look at my profile. The top project only had around 25 loves and likes, and 500-600 views.

None of my projects ever reached 1000 views yet.

But do I care? A bit, but what can you do really?

The reason I started Scratch was to enjoy it, see what projects I would come up with, and share it.

And Scratch's motto is

If you are quitting scratch just for not getting many views, that is what I constantly think. Yet I haven't quit. I know that even though they aren't seen, its
the content and heart put into it that counts.

To all people on the verge of leaving scratch, before you go, think of this.

You may not have many followers, likes or loves. But what you should enjoy are the epic projects that you have made.

It's been happening since the start of Scratch, scratchers seeking for fame and not getting it can cause them to leave Scratch, or get angry.

You have some good ideas here. Here are some additional things to think about:
  • Even if someone's projects aren't popular, if they learnt how to program along the way, it means more than becoming like griffpatch.
  • Scratch was actually made to teach people life skills, such as cooperation and appreciation for others' success. If you see anyone feeling sad about the popularity of their project, just remind them of how much they learnt, how many friends they made, etc.
  • Like CatsUnited said, it's been happening since the start of Scratch, and even in the workplace, in school, probably the first humans felt jealous of the other for hunting a larger mammoth

Agreed with CatsUnited and ChocolatePi.
I personally believe Scratch is not about popularity, but on improving your skills.

Yeah it's a shame people do that you just have to keep trying and improving your coding! I was lucky I did a quiz on a popular game and it got a lot of views sometimes it's just luck also.

I don't care much about being popular, just a bit. After all, the internet is virtual.
