Technically we should call it pixmap. (Something I found interesting.)
Today I was looking through Wikipedia and came across the article for bitmap. Turns out that bitmap is actually only a black and white map of pixels. Each pixel is one bit- thus the name bitmap. The term pixmap refers to any map of pixels of any color, not just black and white. Each pixel is more than one bit in a pixmap image.
Just something I found interesting and wanted to point it out.
(P.S. I wasn't sure which forum to put this in. If it is in the wrong forum, feel free to move it ST.)

Well I would still call it a bitmap because the image is made up of bits.
Often bitmap is used for this as well. In some contexts, the term bitmap implies one bit per pixel, while pixmap is used for images with multiple bits per pixel.[1][2]The more general term pixmap refers to a map of pixels, where each one may store more than two colors, thus using more than one bit per pixel.
