I played to disk 3 before giving up. The story was not very good, the characters were bad, and the battle system made me rage quite a lot.

OK, SPOILER ALERT PEOPLE!!! What happened, or what is believed, is that Squall actually dies after his fight with the person (forgot her name), and he has his dying dream for the rest of the storyline.
