I have see it done loads of timesbut how is this possible ?

When you type in a topic then there is a chain link icon (6 buttons along) that you can press or use ctrl+L. You can then type in the URL of the page you want to go to. The url is the web address you'd type into your browser to go to a web page.

Or if you want to type links in comments, put, http:// + website URL, and it should look like this: http://scratch.mit.edu/
