Community Collab Competition: Enter your collaborations!

The Community Collab Competition is a contest based on collaboration in the scratch community. If you enter it, our independent adjudicators will judge it! And who knows, maybe you'll win! Winners will be awarded with a substantial amount of publicity toward their account to get their projects heard, as will finalists and runners up. There's no reason not to join!

There are three tiers of the competition:

Rookie Competition: Those defined as ‘New Scratchers’ and people with either: Less than 3 months membership with scratch, less than 5 projects released or new to collaborations.

Middleweight Competition: The average scratcher that has at least either : 3 months experience with scratch, less than 20 projects, or has done a collaboration before, but no more than twice.

Veteran Competition: The hardcore scratcher. The ones that know the community like the back of their hand. These people must have either: a year experience with scratch, more than 20 projects, or has done more than 2 collaborations.

Rookies can join the middleweight or veteran competition, but veterans cannot join the middleweight or rookie competitions. This is to make sure that the experience rating is fair. If you think that you need some more practice before you end up moving on to the other two, stick down low if you can!

Rules:

1) Anyone can join a tier they're under-qualified for, but nobody can join a tier they're over-qualified for.

2) It is against the rules to join more than one tier.

3) Each project must only be entered once, this means no remixes. (don't worry, each person will get due credit)

4) Remember the site's motto! If you don't want people to use your material, you're kind of missing the point of the site. If you don't want anyone to see any of your content before due date, just release it on the closing date or when the majority of people have submitted.

5) The project can be anything. An animation, game, or something like homestuck; a hybrid of literature, animation and a game.

6) Mostly, have fun! It's a light-hearted community competition and is not to be taken seriously. Enjoy the experience! Arguing with your teammates (or anyone else, for that matter) will get you nowhere.

The projects will be judged on:

creativity / 10 - This goes into general portrayal skills, the art of getting your idea down the way you want it to go down.

ingenuity / 10 - How intelligently the whole project is done. If you do something in script we've never seen before, you may just get a ten!

skill / 10 - raw artistic, musical, acting, writing and programming skills. We'll try not to favor this one too much because not everybody has great skills in art or design but can make a fantastic game.

originality / 10 - This scoring may be the most important: A new idea. Something we haven't seen before, but works.

No official date of entry has been set up yet, as we are not prepared for it.

I am looking to hire 5 adjudicators (judges) for the event. They will all be credited on the studios justly.
All adjudicators must play each project in the competition, deem it and the team behind it qualified (if applicable) and judge the project.
We're basically looking for somebody with no bias and some time on their hands; with a good respect for what a good game IS.
Adjudicators will not be allowed to participate. They must be unbiased to anybody joining and they must not abuse the curator position.

Format of Application:

>Scratch Username (that'll be in the message, but if you want to)

>Time of membership in scratch (we'll try to hire old and new scratchers for a great balance)

>Judged before? (not necessary)

>Your best project skill (music, art, acting, writing, scripting?)

>Done a collab before? (This would be useful, but again not applicable)

>Why do you want to join? (i.e. I wanna play all da games :3)

ADJUDICATORS:

*____________*
1)___________
2)___________
3)___________
4)___________
5)___________
*____________*

Get started if you'd like! I'm happy for you to organise teams and apply for adjudicator here.

Community Collab Competition: Enter your collaborations!

I'm sorry, but this competition is badly flawed.
  • You'd only give publicity to the main account, not everyone else that did it.
  • Most collabs have not finished making the projects.
  • Most people that enter the collab forum (and would see this) are part of unfinished collabs, so if you judged collabs that haven't reached their goal, the ‘independent’ adjudicator would not be independent.

I never explicitly stated that. It was a mistake to not state the opposite, as that was what I intended. Did I not say that?

Who said that they had to enter a collab already completed? I was referring to a new collab for the competition.

True; but the point was for people to submit their projects here. I am not going to randomly find a collab and put it in the competition. If they want to be an adjudicator, they must not be a part of a collaboration actually submitted to the competition.

I thought I made these points obvious?

What I meant was that you were suggesting finished collabs.
