Yes, believe it or not, people do use phones on Scratch. Also, someone who is unaffected by flashing lights would not necessarily realise that it could be seizure-inducing for others. It's like saying that buildings here in the UK should not provide facilities for wheelchair users because only 1.2% of the British population are regular wheelchair users.

I highly disagree with this. Sure, there's a minority of people, but you should not (and never) neglect that minority. What if the first person who came was actually epileptic? Following that logic, why not remove all other languages forums too? Most people speak English!

I get what you are saying and I think if the feature does happen, I doubt they will allow .gif format

Following that logic, why not remove all other languages forums too? Most people speak English!

Just because Scratch has more a western audience on their site, that does not mean it should remove other language forum. That like bus no longer allow wheelchair in the bus because not much people with wheelchair go on the bus, okay that is a bad example but you get what I trying to say.

it doesn't matter who finds it first, it matters who finds it at all. if a non-epileptic user and an epileptic user are both exposed to seizure-inducing graphics on different days, no matter which order that takes place in, the epileptic seizure will still happen and the user (along with their family and anyone else that cares even remotely about their health) will still be just as unhappy. chew on this for a second:

let's say a user with 10,000 followers takes advantage of this and tiles an epileptically concerning gif across the background of their profile. even if only 10% of their audience still checks their profile, that's still 1000 people. from your statistic, that means roughly 10 people would have a seizure. so we can leave the margin of error pretty wide open here and still statistically guarantee that somebody is going to have a reaction. this isn't debatable–you simply cannot allow the possibility for an incident like this to take place.

also, for the record, all seriously telling somebody to “get out” does (at least, in this context) is accentuate negative characteristics present in yourself. a better alternative would be to say something along the lines of “I disagree, here's why” or whatever. i know we all probably sound like robots telling people to be respectful, but it's kind of necessary in order to possess any level of basic human decency.

To the OP: Negative support. I mean, really? I like how uniform Scratch is, I have absolutely no interest in adding massive contrast between pages. Like, you have a heart background in one and a pixel background in another, it just looks inconsistent and kind of messy. I personally like Scratch the way it is right now, with no bright, distracting backgrounds that will draw people away from your projects and into the side. I mean, you want people to take a look at you, not you background, right?
