Custom Blocks

We should be able to make a custom block in one sprite and it appears in all the sprites more blocks without having to copy the define block into every sprite. It would make it easier to edit once rather then in every sprite you stick it in.

I don't think it's that hard to just copy/paste define blocks.

What if you want to change it? You would have to change it in all the sprites. By deleting all the blocks for that define block, delete the define block, change it on one of the sprites, copy it back to all the sprites, then find where you took the blocks out of the script. Ok a little off topic, can you go to https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/56052006/#player and tell me what you think of that game in the comments? If you want to see the fourm for the game go to https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/105584/?page=1#post-919880.

Thanks!

I see your point, but from what I've seen most projects don't have the same block copied over all sprites or anything.

Also, you don't need to delete the blocks first, all you need to do is copy over the new, updated block, then delete the old one.

By the way please don't advertise your projects here, if you need feedback go to show and tell or help with scripts.

Never thought of that idea. Aren't I allowed to post advertisements on my own post?

Nope. Because it's offtopic.

No-one unless they don't know it's advertising will not view it that way.

That was like a triple negative. Seriously, that's impressive.

Are you talking about me or him?

Same reason I agree with this!

Support! There should be a radio button in the create custom block dialog box to choose whether it's a global custom block of just for that sprite (same as for variables and lists).

Definitely support. There's good reasons other languages have public functions.

Support!. I actually created my own thread of this so oops, but I do think it would be useful.

I already made a mockup of it.

Could be really useful, especially if some sprites have similar actions.
