Animated Thumbnails
Greetings, Scratchers!
Recently I have noticed animated thumbnails on various projects throughout the site.
How does one apply animated thumbnails?
When were they implemented?
I have so many questions…

As a long time Scratcher, I have found new meaning to the name “Scratch”: for me, it means to “scratch that itch”, to come back again and again to realize new ideas in this toy language, even when I'm capable of creating my projects in real programming languages years later. It's a friend that helped me to pursue programming and get me to enjoy its fruit. I'm certain many others who have walked this path as well have grown fond of its importance in their life.

Just going to throw a bit of a warning out there: using an animated thumbnail can result in your project being marked as NFE because animated project thumbnails can make the front page laggy.

wait, the ST actually (mis)uses “Not For Everyone” like that? That's like labeling 2% milk as skim milk. Just going to throw a bit of a warning out there: using an animated thumbnail can result in your project being marked as NFE because animated project thumbnails can make the front page laggy.

At least it's used for a good purpose. GIFs can send the CPU usage sky high.wait, the ST actually (mis)uses “Not For Everyone” like that? That's like labeling 2% milk as skim milk. No I don't make projects anymore. I left some time ago.
I only check the forums every now and then, but other than that consider me retired.

^Yep, summarizes my previous post nicely. We don't want a laggy front page.At least it's used for a good purpose. My concern is that the ability to make animated thumbnails is very likely a bug.

It actually is a bug, which is partially why we were NFE'ing projects that had it. We wouldn't deliberately implement something that would make the site unusable for our users with weaker computers. If you exploited the bug to get an animated thumbnail, well… be glad we only NFE'd it.Nope, it's a hack > My concern is that the ability to make animated thumbnails is very likely a bug.

Anyway, closing this since the question is quite old and I think resolved. How to do this isn't information we want to spread around anyway.
