Yeah, that's better.

If someone is saying goodbye to the community through a project, it might not get front-paged, so hardly anyone would know that the user is leaving.
it might not get front-paged

Why would a project for quitting even get front-paged? Featured/curated? No. Most loved? No, people wouldn't love that they're leaving. Recent projects? Sure, but it wouldn't get much time there.
However, through a forum post/topic, it instantly lets everyone know that "Hey, this user is leaving. I'd better let him/her know that I care and that I'll miss him/her."Only about 1/4 of Scratchers actually forum. I don't think that is quite “everyone”…

Exactly. It's extremely difficult to get enough people to notice a project telling that you're leaving. If someone is saying goodbye to the community through a project, it might not get front-paged, so hardly anyone would know that the user is leaving.it might not get front-paged

Well at least more people will notice on the forums than through a project…However, through a forum post/topic, it instantly lets everyone know that "Hey, this user is leaving. - 1 because you can't create a whole forum for such a specific situation.
It's up to you to create a thread and encourage the community to let this thread forever living (by ex you can nominate a unofficial “thread curator”)
and this person will spread the message there's a big thread for users to say bye bye.

Bump. I wanted to say this:
On the transition to 2.0, people were raging in projects, and leaving. The forum for that will be mostly anger about the transition/not enough views/loveits/etc.

I don't like this idea. The post should be in another forum, not in a new one designed specifically for people leaving.

I didn't mean anything about the transition. I meant that they posted ragequit projects, then left. If people rage about something or other, which they stilll do, and then leave, it's still the same thing, but with a spammed-up forum to grief.Bump. You guys are thinking too negatively. We'll have the guidelines state that you can't make ragequit speeches or rant about how your projects aren't loved. If you're having a bad time, you can always take a break from Scratch and come back when you're ready.

But what is the benefit of having this forum in the first place?
So people can say bye? I doubt everyone that will say bye will have known the leaving Scratcher. If someone wants to say bye to his friends, he can leave a comment on their profiles, and they can see it. It doesn't need to be shown to everyone in a new forum.
(There's also the problem with quitting projects that have been going on for ages: “If I get at least 50 love its or whatever, I won't quit!” People will just do that. So what, we ban that too? Why not just not make the forum in the first place? Is there a problem right now with the way people are leaving?)

But what is the benefit of having this forum in the first place?*sighs* I made this suggestion for people to say goodbye if they are quitting. It isn't meant to cause all this trouble. There is no problem with the way people are leaving, it is just that some leave unexpectedly. Like, a follower of mine was not active, so I was wondering why. It wasn't until I went to his profile page to see that he quit.

Having the good bye forum would let people know that this scratcher is leaving, because some quitting scratchers don't tell their followers that they are leaving.

But still, the rages and such would occur. And, of course, the love-it to not quit problem going on. Making a project will assure their followers see, as not all scratchers use the forums. But what is the benefit of having this forum in the first place?*sighs* I made this suggestion for people to say goodbye if they are quitting. Couldn't they make a project about it then? Their friends would most likely be following them, so their friends could see the project in their my friends latest projects section. Besides, do you really need to make a forum thread just to get people to say goodbye to you? If people do that it kind of seems like they're hunting for sympathy to me.But what is the benefit of having this forum in the first place?*sighs* I made this suggestion for people to say goodbye if they are quitting.
