.. IF YOU CAN’T SEE THE STARS ..
an application for myrtlekit

if you can't see the stars
when you close your eyes, and turn your head towards the sky… what do you see? do you see swirls of color, pitch darkness, or tiny spots of light. one for those who wonder, one for those who wander, and one for those who do both.
if you were to truly find a way to shut out the light, what would you do? rejoice in the freedom, or wallow away like a shadow? a shadow that is forced to act like it's master, a shadow that is always an actor, one who tells the sweetest of lies.
those that choose to turn upwards, not downwards, are the ones who will sing the songs. write the stories. they are the ones who look at the world with eyes wide open, not closed. the ones who wonder and think, not accepting the first thing they see. and they are the ones, who when they finally chose to shut them, they still see the stars.

about me
mel or lo
she/they
hi! I’m Mel, an artist, writer, scratcher, roleplayer, and theatre kid. I’m a minor and try to be a pretty positive person around people both online and in person. I enjoy making new friends and learning new things, my favorite subject in school is English as I get to both write and read! I was first introduced to warrior cats when I was pretty young, and while I still enjoy the series I do not plan on finishing all of it because there are a ton of books. My first experience with roleplaying was almost three years ago at this point, and was in person with some irl friends. Online I’ve been roleplaying for a a little over a year, though I’m not sure the exact length. I’ve been in several roleplays over my time in the rp community, though I’ll get into that later in this application!
activity - I am pretty active on scratch, and check in a few times a day. as a fraction it would probably be 8 or 9 out of 10, slightly longer on weekends since I have more time then. most of my time on scratch is spent roleplaying, though I do like to chat with friends and look at art/writing contests every now and then. I generally keep my characters until mid-warrior age, though would like to keep Myrtle later due to some arc ideas I have!

experience
I've been in a few roleplays on scratch, including generations, tfcrp, tss, and others. i'm only going to mention gens characters, since those are the ones I remember the most clearly.

emberkit : emmie was my first gens character, and scratch roleplay character in general. I was really excited when I ended up getting her, and was pretty active even if my writing skills weren't the best. she was very bubbly and energetic, and loved making friends. I had a few specific threads where she would just walk up to a random other kit and decide that they were besties, and those were very fun! she lived in flurryclan, and ended up oofing due to weekly kit.

koipond : koi was another flurryclan character, and probably my favorite. she had a ton of lore, as a kit they started out similar to ember, very bubbly and happy-go-lucky. when she was 4 moons the fc rebellion happened, and she instantly hated it. this led her to really dislike the leader, who she was apprenticed at 6 moons. shortly after her warrior ceremony they left flurryclan and started a loner group, the guild of life, along with her sister. ended up getting into a forbidden romance, and died as a young warrior. oorp this was because of my mental health, and i took a short break before getting my next character.

legendsong : leah was from a donated litter, and so didn't have many family members. he was fun to roleplay though didn't have much lore, and was based weakly on an athena child/annabeth from percy jackson. fae was a flurryclan medic who was very smart, and was just a silly little bean. oofed in an attempt to fight the wolves, and now resides in starclan as a prophet.

sundownpaw : my most recent child, sue lived in mossclan. she was socially awkward yet easily excited, and I had a lot planned for them. even though they were very young she was my buffest cat, and had a really close bond with her family. ended up oofing (again) due to fighting the wolves, and I still roleplay them time to time.

I've had a few others that I don't really remember, if needed I can try to find their bios and write descriptions of them as well

which kit + why
i'm applying for the cunning gamemaster, myrtle!
i'm really obsessed with my ideas for the little bean. I've wanted my next character to be an urchinclan cat for a while, and been planning evil arc ideas for when I get the chance. when I saw this litter I was excited, I really love all the designs and roleplaying characters with siblings and parents is very fun for me! after looking through the kits I eventually decided on myrtle, he is the one I feel the most connected to and I feel like could fit with my ideas.

identity
undecided as of now! likely genderflux or agender, and for sexuality demi-romantic biromatic asexual. he/him/his as a kit, he/fey/them as an appie, and he/she/fey/xeir/them/its as an adult.

personality
+ smart determined decisive independent strategic focused protective loyal resilient relentless (10)
= curious perceptive adaptable opportunistic competitive calculating flamboyant perfectionist idealistic (9)
– ambitious impatient irritable blunt defensive stubborn pragmatic skeptical eccentric headstrong (10)

detailed analysis
  • myrtle is a very smart and quick thinking. he gains information fast and retains it, often making good judgments on important matters. when given a goal to achieve he focuses all his energy on it, managing not to get distracted or to let his brain wander. this is partly a result of his determined nature. he is relentless in his attempt to reach his objectives, and is a very goal-oriented cat. myr enjoys having something to work for, believing it an important aspect of life. when he does mess up, however, he is always able to bounce back. he is resilient and doesn't mind making mistakes, and enjoys being able to see his growth. in this he is quick to make up his mind, decisive. all his decisions are final and unchanging, and he makes them quickly. from a young age ri will be very insistent that he is independent and can handle himself. he will want to manage his life, and is very good at taking care of himself and knowing what he needs. this does come with a good sense of strategy, and he will love trying to formulate methods to reach his objectives. once he knows and trusts someone myrie is very loyal and protective willing to go to great lengths to keep them safe. he tries to take great care of them, and would never betray a close friend or family member.

views, first impressions, and mannerisms

impressions
upon first seeing myrtle, several different feelings may arise. as a kit they seem to set others to ease, seeming gentle and innocent. a flower, a bloom, something to be held in careful hands. bright eyes that reflect everything, a cat lost in idealism. as they slowly grow older this changes to a soft suspicion, maybe a sense of caution. a reminder to be wary, and not let looks deceive you. now a wilted blossom, or a coin that could be flipped either way. to some they immediately are intimidating, a force not to be reckoned with. others take them for granted, expecting them to be a child pretending at a role. they will often change to look like something different, putting on a mask to pretend at kindness or despair. no mater, however, they will be the one playing the board.

views
family : myrtle sees family as allies of a sort. he believes that since they share blood, they must share views and opinions as well. he will expect them to follow along with his plans, never argue, and help him reach his goals. this will be slightly hypocritical, he will often abandon or ignore them unless he made a promise.
with his parents he will see them as teachers or guards, those who are supposed to take care of and help him. he will often visit them, asking for help with small tasks or bothering them with questions as a kit. this will evolve into larger and larger requests as myr grows, and he will be angered if they refuse. he will however also see this both ways, and do small things like bring them prey or flowers.
myrie see his siblings as the closest cats to him. he loves them dearly, and will often dote on them or bring them gifts such as flowers or pretty stones. if they get into a fight with another cat he will instantly take their side, and fight others for them. often times he will act like a mediator between them, and stop fights. he will never fight with his siblings, simply will walk away if he gets angry.

promises and justice :
when ri makes a promise he won't break it. he sees them as binding oaths, a guarantee that both must fulfill their side. those who do break them are terrible, and don't care for the world. he will try to find ways around this, noncommittal replies or phrasing that allows for loopholes. not wanting to break his word, yet not willing to give up all the options for next moves.
those who do however go back on what they said deserve some kind of punishment. a way of making up for the injustice. myr believes that to keep everything fair, some must be willing to give things up. if another cat gets a larger rabbit than him he can take it, or if another clan gains more territory they must take some. while he tries to keep everything perfectly equal he does believe that sometimes sacrifices need to be made, especially if they are beneficial to him.

goals
I have a few different goals and path ideas for myrie. for starters, early in his kithood years i'd like to start grinding medic apt. i feel like his early interest in the natural world would lead him to be fascinated by plants, and even later in life the role could suit him well. i'd like the chance to play a medic character who isn't what might be seen as a stereotypical healer, and who is more cunning and quick-thinking. someone who uses the highrank role to their advantage. that being said I do feel like the path of a warrior would lead to interesting lore points as well, and some of my plot ideas for a rebellious phase would fit in nicely no matter what role he would end up taking.
as a side-note to that I would like to focus on grinding a lot during myr's early kit years, to take the pressure off of apprenticehood so much. for me it is very hard to build lore during kithood, yet being able to get a decent amount of apt would be a good way to be productive and save time for more of a story during the time when he would know more about the world.
one of the main things i'd like to focus on with him is relationship building. I haven't played a character with a personality similar to his before, and would love to see how he interacts with different cats. as well as that having friends and enemies leads to roleplaying being much more fun, at least from my experience!
now for the longest part of this section, my ideas for companions! I haven't really had much of a chance to test them out, as most of my characters since they were first added either haven't had the chance to get a companion or I haven't used much. to fix this obviously drastic issue, I'd like to plan out what ones would best suit myrtle.
first up, the bee. if I do end up getting medic this would make the job much easier, and help take a load off of my plate. I know medics have to do a ton of threads, and i'd like to do everything possible to stay very active with myr. being able to still heal cats while also avoiding having a ton of threads going at once would be very helpful, and a great investment. plus, I can see the bee becoming lore relevant to myrtle's future. when I think of a bee I generally think of it in the sense of a bright and happy creature, which would be in contrast to the personality growth I have planned. also, I think it would be really cute if he would chat with the bee, to help himself cheer up.
the corvid is probably my favorite of the companions, mostly because of how versatile it is. I really like the benefits it provides, as well as the fact that is had quite a few options for breeds. In developing myr's lore I really want to focus on interacting with lots of different cats, and being able to make friends with cats from other clans would be very helpful. as well as that I love the vibe that it gives, and would most likely choose a magpie. it fits in perfectly with my ideas and could be a way to show character growth as he slowly changes to being more cynical.
turtle and bat as well, i'll write that later

i'm currently not adding any research, might later in life, however!
