Can we use copyrighted music in our projects?

I guess it would be wrong but like what are the chances the owner actually finds the project? Like, lots of people use “never gonna give you up” which is copyrighted but rick asley never really cared

use of copyrighted material in scratch projects most often falls under fair use, meaning it's okay to use it. however there have been a handful of cases where projects were removed due to copyright infringement.

I don't know if this is your plan, but be aware that it is not allowed to share projects whose main focus is copyrighted music. So as far as the Scratch Team is concerned, you can use copyrighted music as background music for a game, for example, but you cannot make an album project that only contains copyrighted music.

Yes, there's only 2 cases of Scratch being contacted to remove a project for copyright issues, and both are around 2010 (one was because the Animation Hall of Fame infringed a trademark and had to be renamed to Scratch Hall of Fame Animation, and because Bandai Namco took down a Pac-Man game for copyright issues.)

There was far more than 2, but I don't think that's entirely relevant to the OP's question anyway.

Alright, thank you very much!! Don't worry, my project is a game. I wanted to use a background music for the boss battle. Thanks!

There were two publicly revealed cases, I'm only referring to those two

The chances of that happening isn't too high though, considering the massive amount of copyrighted content that is posted and referenced on this site without the creators being worried about people using it. Only a few creators are picky about who uses their content. Just give credit, and if your project is requested to be taken down, you won't get in any trouble.
