So the average signature is pretty plain.

Some people put images in, some people text and links to projects.

Others put scratch blocks.

Some users put fancy dancy images in their signatures. (MegaApu has some neat music)

But I don't see a whole lot of signatures that are legitimately well formatted. I've noticed a lot of power users have some pretty cool (If a bit cluttered, I'm looking at you CatsUnited >.> ) ones, and some very nice looking ones.

I tried my best to go for a minimal but (hopefully) pretty signature, but I still doubt it's really the pinnacle of bbcode or anything.

Anyone got any tips for making a top notch signature?

yey

The maximum height for a signature is 150px, and I have quite a lot of objects for a 150px high sig, so it gets squashed

EDIT: I'm going to make a brand new signature soon instead of slighty changing my current one every couple of days, but I'm going to release two awesome projects before I do that.

Yeah I don't blame you, I just got tired of trying to fit a bunch of information into a small area so I said screw it and went minimalist.

My favourite two signatures would have to be by @Lescratcher, (here's one of his posts: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/18165/?page=24#post-166683 ) and @BoltBait (and here's one of his: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/695/?page=1#post-4486 )

So basically, in my opinion, the fancy signatures are the ones that look professionally made consisting of mostly image-links to projects or forum topics (or studios, I guess). They generate attention for whatever you want to advertise every time you make a forum post. ;P and like BoltBait's, sometimes they'll be out of the box. Notice how his links to five different projects in what looks like five (overlapping???) images. If you drag one of the images, you can see how he did it.

But if you want to put an extra 1337 spin on it, here's a few tips:
  • host your images on cdn.scratch.mit.edu. xD (oh and that does not mean "make project shaped images xD)
  • create epic or eye catching graphics that cause somebody to pause every time they scroll down past one of your posts.
  • don't let your signature get cut off at the bottom. This is very (not) 1337 in my opinion. xD

Good luck making an epic signature!

Lol IDK I think that the Advanced Topics is almost like the “Miscellaneous Topics for Advanced Users” because even if something doesn't fit within a few posts it will be derailed and totally offtopic and onto a new topic that is rather advanced. (basically anything turns into a rather advanced topic here anyway xD)

I have 2 tips:
- If you have complicated bbcode, it's better to generate it with a program. For example, my rainbow text was generated by a program I wrote.
- Test your signature on real posts. It will look different than both the preview and the stored signature thing on your signature page. Also make sure to test in mobile devices as well

Also, a lot of my music is waaaay outdated, but in too lazy to update my sig

The Advanced Topics forum has evolved into more of a social media gathering place for advanced users rather than a forum for advanced topics for normal users.

Agreed, but I'm pretty sure everyone likes it that way
Anyway, my signature is pretty minimal, but it seems that everyone clicks it, so maybe it's about what people like.

I'm glad the ST doesn't mind
I guess it's kind of like the “13+ scratch” that everyone wants, where we can stay mostly mature while technically deviating from official guidelines.

Yeah, it's not like we're posting bad stuff in here. And we don't get spammers or n00bs as often as the other forums

Yeah pretty much.

I posted this here because A. ‘Things I’m making and creating' is for stuff outside of scratch

and B. because this is the more active forum

I like to think of AT of less of an advanced programming board (which is still is, mind you) and more of a meta/poweruser-hangout at this point.

A good bit of it is still awesome, especially MDK, I wasn't aware many people here listened to him other than me.

My home away from home is the AT forums

Anyway, I think my signature is pretty classy, don't you?

I listen to a lot of less-well-known EDM.
I bet you don't know who these are:
  • Slander
  • Sound Driven
  • Snavs
  • Milo & Otis
  • Brandberg
  • Lexxmatiq
  • Inkyz
  • I could go on…

Edit: updated my sig
