How do you get fonts from other places?Via another vector editor, such as Inkscape. Google Drawings works if you don't want to download anything. Choose a font; they most likely have a lot more than Scratch. Type whatever, then save as .svg and import into Scratch as a costume. The problem with this is it takes time, you can't change text afterwards and sometimes there are strange glitches importing vector graphics from other places.

How do you get fonts from other places?
Download inkscape if you don't have it already
Type text with text tool
Path –> Object to path
Object –> Ungroup
Path –> Union
Save as regular SVG
Upload text to costume in Scratch
And the length of the process is mainly why this is a very desired feature by many users.

eh
nah
Everybody, after seeing new fonts, would be like "THAT FONT? Now I don't think so, we need [comic sans] instead!" and because adding too many fonts to the scratch editor would make it considerably slower / cause other problems, the ST could only implement limited fonts.
Just use inkscape and convert all your objects to paths. Inkscape is great anyways.
EDIT: Actually, maybe it would be nice if you could load fonts from your computer into the Bitmap editor, because it doesn't save the text and need to render it anyways - so it wouldn't require the user to have the font installed on their computer / in the editor.

Partial support?
'Cuz they could just make it so that you can choose any of the fonts installed on your computer + the deafult ones.
But what if you don't have MS word? I don't.

Arial is the default font for me, meaning I see it all the time, and it makes everything look like italics. I've just gotten sick of it after all this time I've spent looking at it.What ‘good reason’ is that?Support!!!!!!!!!!! We want Syncopate! We want Roboto! We want Arial! We want Open Sans! Well that reason does sound good from your perspective, but I don't mind the font at all, and I kinda doubt most people would.Arial is the default font for me, meaning I see it all the time, and it makes everything look like italics. Have you considered changing your default font?
