The whole point of Scratch Cat is that they can be whoever you want them to be. That's why they are the default sprite.

Scratch Cat's actual name is Scratch Catfoodus Frishloovan Bagundis Qandijus Ivilos Mjeow III according to the wiki, but it's usually shortened down for obvious reasons

I feel like it's part of the thing that you can choose a name and identity for scratch cat yourself.

Only like this scratch cat fits in all types of projects.

To me scratch cat is more of an avatar than a mascot
Like a blank slate

Scratch cat is what you want it to be, Scratch Cat could be a princess, a king, a fairy, a wizard, or anything you want it to be
Giving scratch cat a name doesn’t allow some of that creativity to flow

I mean look at that captainscratchbeard guy
They turned scratch cat into a cool pirate

That wouldn’t really flow if you knew scratch cat’s name was Diane or something

Aye, I agree that scratch cat be a fine blank slate, but me issue be that th' name “Scratch Cat” feels like some corporate bilge water.
Look at Gobo, Tera, Pico, and these other scallywags: they still work as blank slates but have cooler names.
Ye know, I could have been called Captain Gobobeard like me grandpa: it ain't the cat's name that is special.

I see the point of giving the scratch cat personality.

But I really feel like people must look at this:

Scratch cat is a nice and recognizeable term already and it is pretty blank. But that is important, because the Scratch cat is the default character and will be used for TONS and TONS of types of projects. If you give it a name with a personality or so, suddeenly the vibe is off and it isn't good for being an astronaut any more (too medieval) or for a medieval game (too sci-fi).
Scratch cat can be the main character of SO MANY stories and it is the stage the Scratch beginners start off with best, just like it is.

Well Gobo, Tera, and Pico aren't the default sprites
They aren't blank slates. They're actual mascots

Scratch Cat's name is the name you give them
