I'm excited to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and Scratch! My idea is to experiment with integrating AI-inspired features—such as decision-making algorithms, simple chatbots, or pattern recognition—within the constraints of Scratch’s block-based environment. Although Scratch isn’t designed for advanced AI, I believe creative workarounds can introduce these concepts in a fun, educational way.

I'm curious if anyone has tried to simulate AI behaviors in their projects or has ideas on how to incorporate AI elements effectively. What challenges have you encountered, and what solutions or strategies have worked best? I'm especially interested in approaches that maintain the accessibility and playful spirit of Scratch while also engaging users with new technology concepts.

Good question! “AI” can mean a lot of different things in Scratch, so it depends on which direction you want to explore.

Some Scratchers build chat-style bots using keyword matching. Others create game AIs where enemies make decisions, follow the player, or respond to patterns. Scratch logic can get surprisingly far with lists, variables, and simple rules.

I suggest you experimenting with AI ideas through Pishi.ai Scratch, which adds optional extensions like facemesh, hand pose, and image recognition, and …, It doesn’t make the project for you, it just gives you new inputs (like hand movements or object detection) so you can design your own logic on top of it. It feels like mixing AI concepts with the usual “Scratch style” of creativity.

So whether it’s chatbots, decision-making, or motion-based interactions, both “AI that talks” and “AI that plays” are totally possible. Curious which type you’re aiming for!

i made a digit recognition ai and its actually pretty easy i used a perceptron and the only hard part was making a grid to draw on but i dont wanna share because data poisioning

Surprised nobody just saw “ai” and started raging cus of the new terms and conditions,
Anyway there are some primitive A.I.s like scratchGPT and someone actually made an A.I. doodle detector(though that used quick-draw’s servers or smthn like that, I’m not too smart)
