I have come across versions of Mac OS X that were distributed on physical media on the Internet Archive. The Macintosh Garden may be another place to look.

Through the `softwareupdate` command-line tool, I was able to download the macOS Big Sur installer a few weeks ago. Should I try it after I do a Time Machine backup?

I think Mojave has the best UI that isn't OS X 10.6.
