Donations with perks sounds awfully similar to a Membership.

It is still nonprofit, it is pretty expensive to keep Scratch running, what with the storage space, server, and overall upkeep and moderation. This just makes it easier for them to add new features and keep the site up.

As everyone has mentioned, they need a way to make money to pay ST members, run servers (and repair them - like after the April Fools' Day incident of 2022), etc.

It's NOT a cash grab, or any form of greed. The Scratch Foundation is a NONPROFIT - this means they are an organization whose goal is not to make money but to provide a service for free or reduced price. To provide Scratch for free to people like you, they need MONEY for aforementioned costs.

Because this isn't a verified badge, bruh

If you get the membership you almost get nothing but the badge after your nickname (which is very annoying, it is literally EVERYWHERE on your profile). And also 10-20% off of things on scratch. And also get rid of the membership spam on your email. Other than that actually almost nothing. Like cmon, exclusive sprites? Do they even know what pngs and screenshot ring and copy pasting is? Ok. All I listed above is actually nothing, like cmon, do you really need those? And discounted merch? Have you ever seen someone wear scratch merch out in public? Even on a yt video? Yeh. It it’s all useless. If you wanna give scratch some money, better just use the traditional donation.
