Have music sharing projects been unbanned yet?
I read somewhere that music sharing projects were banned because it “hinders creativity”.
However, that was said in 2017. It's been 8 to 9 years since then.

There's been no update from the Scratch Team suggesting otherwise.
You're allowed to make music sharing projects if the music is made by yourself, which would be creative.
You can use other people's music creatively would include it being background music in a game or animation but not the sole focus of the project.

I read somewhere that music sharing projects were banned because it “hinders creativity”.“Hinders creativity” is kind of the kid-friendly way to suggest users should be using Scratch for programming and not as a replacement for a music streaming service. The non-kid-friendly translation is that music-sharing projects do not fall under the Fair Use clause, so unless it was music you created and can legally share under a Creative Commons license, then uploading them to Scratch could land you into some legal trouble.

Needless to say, no, they won't be unbanned anytime soon.

What do you MEAN by “kid-friendly” translation??? The non “kid-friendly” version is still kid friendly lol

We found that using the non-kid-friendly translation isn't always understood. Not all kids technically grasp the scope of Fair Use or the serious ramifications of a DCMA takedown. It's easier to explain what Scratch should and shouldn't be used for.I read somewhere that music sharing projects were banned because it “hinders creativity”.“Hinders creativity” is kind of the kid-friendly way to suggest users should be using Scratch for programming and not as a replacement for a music streaming service. It makes sense why these projects are banned, and I don't think it should be lifted anytime soon.
When you use (copyrighted) music in a project, you should at least use it in a way that constitutes fair use.
A project that simply shares someone else's music without any major changes/added visuals is not creative at all. It's just distributing copyrighted music for the purpose of giving it away for free (and also enables piracy since anyone can just… open the project and grab the audio.)
Also… audio files you upload to Scratch are compressed, resulting in a loss of quality (this is especially true for longer audio files.)
You really don't want to pirate your music from Scratch, doing so would only be a disservice to yourself.
