Scratch should feature Planes as an official studio because planes naturally combine creativity, science, engineering, and storytelling in a way that fits Scratch’s mission perfectly.

Planes are one of the most versatile themes on Scratch. They can be used for games, simulations, animations, educational projects, music visualizers, and storytelling all at once. A single plane studio could include flight simulators, airport tycoon games, dogfight games, rescue missions, crash investigations, physics experiments, historical recreations, and cinematic animations. Very few themes allow this level of variety while still being easy for beginners to understand.

Planes also strongly support learning. Projects about planes naturally teach physics concepts like lift, drag, thrust, gravity, speed, and momentum without feeling like schoolwork. Scratch users could learn about real-world aviation, engineering design, navigation, weather, geography, and even math just by remixing and experimenting with plane projects. A featured Planes studio would quietly turn Scratch into a fun aviation learning hub.

Planes are extremely remix-friendly. One user might create a simple flying mechanic, another remixes it into a racing game, someone else turns it into a war game, and another user converts it into a peaceful sky exploration experience. This encourages persistence, improvement, and learning, which aligns directly with Scratch’s core values.

Know a cool studio? Suggest it to be featured on the homepage here. You’re welcome to suggest studios you created or studios created by someone else. We’re looking for studios for all sorts of project types and topics!

Here are some things we look for in studios we feature:
- Provides an interesting prompt that inspires Scratchers to be creative and make projects
- Is focused on a specific project type or topic– for example, mouse trail projects or projects about historical fashion. We find that more specific prompts can be more inspiring!
- Has at least one active manager (two managers is even better), but not tons of managers
- Has fewer than 100 projects
- Has at least 2 projects that serve as good examples of what can go in the studio
- Does not allow anyone to add projects (for safety reasons), but does invite anyone to ask for their project to be added by a curator.
- Does not have an animated gif as its thumbnail (because that slows down the front page)
- Does not have a requirement that people must follow the host/studio creator/manager/etc in order to curate or add projects to the studio (attempting to trick or force others to follow you in exchange for anything on Scratch, including curating a studio, is not okay)
- Is not an Add Everything studio
- Not required but awesome: Description is in multiple languages and/or invites Scratchers to help translate it

Please try not to post the same studio multiple times! It would be especially helpful if, when proposing a studio, you explained how the studio provides a unique, interesting, and specific prompt for Scratchers.

It’s focused on marshmallows, which gives people a fun theme to make projects about.
