Sorry I don't know how to write a

(speech1 v)::extension variable

Text to Speech right? But what about Speech to Text? Just 3 simple blocks. Record speech, convert (), and a in built variable for speech. This would be useful for translators, (to record speech), and you know everything else we could do! Rejected?

It is possible with current scratch. You just have to use the loudness block. This is extremely hard though.
