Studio Image Upload Error — Meets Requirements but Still Fails
I’ve been trying to upload a studio image that meets all Scratch’s requirements (PNG format, under 512 KB, less than 500×500 pixels).
I’ve tested multiple images, including one that’s just 1 KB and 100×100 pixels — still getting the same error:
“Maximum file size is 512 KB and less than 500x500 pixels.”
I’ve tried:
Please let me know if this is a known issue or if there’s a workaround. Thanks!
My studio: Messed up
UPADTE: Found out that the all the images (even the 1KB one) do not work on one of my other studios.
Anyone seeing this?

I’ve tried:
- Resizing and compressing with multiple tools
- Uploading from different browsers (Chrome, Edge)
- Logging out and back in
- Uploading completely different images
Please let me know if this is a known issue or if there’s a workaround. Thanks!

I'm back on October 22, 2025; 15 days after this was made. Anyone else seeing this?

I got the same error and…..
Honestly I got no idea. However, if this even exists, maybe try some weird online pixel editor. Otherwise, dont know.

In this case, you are likely experiencing a common bug on Scratch. You're hitting a annoying bug with Scratch where server-side issues or caching will prevent a studio's images (PNG format, less than 512KB, and less than 500px) from uploading, even though they meet all requirements to upload; the best way to fix this bug is to try different browsers, clear the cache, log out and back in again, and use the Scratch editor's own resizing tool and image conversion tool, or simply wait and try uploading again later.

Studio Image Upload Error — Meets Requirements but Still Fails
I’ve been trying to upload a studio image that meets all Scratch’s requirements (PNG format, under 512 KB, less than 500×500 pixels). This happened but in my projects

“Maximum file size is 512 KB and less than 500x500 pixels.”
I’ve tried:I was able to upload a project image yesterday and a studio image earlier, so this seems specific to studio uploads.
- Resizing and compressing with multiple tools
- Uploading from different browsers (Chrome, Edge)
- Logging out and back in
- Uploading completely different images
