Shadow is absolutely a good guy. He isn't the most social, but he always does the right things for good reasons.
In Heroes, he was taking down Eggman's forces to get his memory back. He also fights Metal Madness.
In Shadow ‘05, hardly any of that game’s events are canon because the Last Story (the only canonical part) takes bits and pieces from each story line. What we do know as canonical is that he took down Devil Doom.
In 06, he spent the entire game fighting against Mephiles. He helped out Sonic twice, and he turned Super to take down Solaris.
In Rivals 1, he took down Eggman Nega.
In Rivals 2, he sealed Ifrit in its own dimension, where it could hurt no one else.
In Generations, he had the strength to literally let go of Gerald and Maria and take down Neo Devil Doom.
In Forces, Shadow fought alongside the Resistance to take down Eggman.
He was an evil character once in SA2, and he's spent the rest of his life doing the right thing. You could even say that one evil act wasn't really his fault since Gerald tampered with his memory.

She isn't bad, and it's for the exact same reasons. Her goals may not always align with the other heroes, but she's always doing the right thing and for the right reasons.

She does some questionable things, but at the end of the day, she's still a good guy (or girl, I guess).
