Shadow is absolutely a good guy. He isn't the most social, but he always does the right things for good reasons.

• In Generations, he had the strength to literally let go of Gerald and Maria and take down Neo Devil Doom.
  
• In Forces, Shadow fought alongside the Resistance to take down Eggman.
  

He was an evil character once in SA2, and he's spent the rest of his life doing the right thing. You could even say that one evil act wasn't really his fault since Gerald tampered with his memory.

She isn't bad, and it's for the exact same reasons. Her goals may not always align with the other heroes, but she's always doing the right thing and for the right reasons.
