Scratch max file size?

Hi, I'm a bit unsure about what the actual fize limit of scratch projects are. Ive heard from some sources that its 10MB, others say its 50MB (but it was from a post from 2019 and its 2025). Im making a project that id say might take up a lot of space and knowing what the file size is would help a lot.

Scratch does not have a fixed limit for project files. You can use as much data as you want for your Scratch projects. The only limits are 10 MB for each asset (not cumulative), and 5 MB for the project.json file (which stores info about variables, data, and code).

Thanks for telling me! Just to make sure Im right, I can only have 5MB of scripts and stuff for the whole project, and each sprite can have up to 10MB of sprites and/or sounds?

Any of the costumes or sounds can be 10MB large. All other things are stored in the project.json which can be up to 5MB

I'm gonna emphasize that the 10MB limit applies to each individual costume/sound, NOT per-sprite or per-project.

Yeah, the person that said 50MB might have confused it with the 2.0 project size limit, which was 50MB. However, there was no project.json limit until 3.0.
Edit: Also, 10MB was the Scratch 1.x limit
