Hi! This seems like a question so I'll ask for it to be moved but sometimes people make funny names such as “nobody” and it appears for their folowers that “(username) is now following (username)” so names can mean a lot too, I believe if you keep working on SKILL though, you can become more popular than those people. Some people are famous like @Griffpatch and @SharkyShar. Whenever they post something, everyone looks at it. Most famous people make funny animations.

Regarding Griffpatch, he joined when the community was significantly smaller so was easier to stand out. Furthermore he is much older than the target age and has programming experience outside of Scratch. It's hard for anyone to keep up with such a time and experience advantage. The types of projects he shares also have a lot of opportunity. Geometry Dash, Minecraft, and Terraria for example are popular games and he has projects about them and more. There are a lot of people seeking projects of that kind.

I have also wondered the same thing @Gamedesighnerz Tapping on a scratchers profile, but they have no projects and still have tons of followers is very confusing!

I've been on Scratch for a few months longer than you have and until around March 2024 had exactly one follower. That's not exactly uncommon.

This is a case of a namesnipe- an account created with a name that stands out in some way. In the case of @bob, that's because Bob is a fairly common name for people (outside of Scratch). People tend to follow namesnipes, because it can work as advertising when others visit their profile and they think it's cool.

I've been on Scratch for about 6 months. For the longest time, I had plenty of decent projects, but no one ever saw them, and I didn't get any followers or anything. Just recently (within the past month), I've found that advertising your projects is super helpful for getting views, and subsequently, followers. Of course, Scratch has rules for advertising. You can't advertise on people's profiles or in project comments, but you can in the appropriate studios and in the show and tell forum.

If you go to the explore tab on Scratch, and click on the studios button, you can see the most popular studios. If you have a project that fits with that studio's theme, then add it. If it is an “add everything” type of studio where spamming is allowed, then you can remove your projects and add them back in every once in a while. This will put them on the top of the studio for everyone to see. I have found this to be so useful that I made a script to automatically do this for me!

Another way to get followers is being active in the community. If people see you all over the place being helpful and giving positive feedback on projects, they might check out your profile and possibly give you a follow.

Since I've been using these strategies, I've gone from around 20 views to over 2000 views and no followers to 18 followers within a month. Hopefully these strategies can help you get more attention in the Scratch community!

Even then its not likely to help much. its honetly just luck of the draw. dont worry about fame, it not like you can make money from it or will help you much in the future. worrying about views will just leave you more worried.
