It's gonna nearly as bad as ads.
It's a simple comment, just scroll past it. Plus, you can always report them.
Furthermore, these comments aren't abundant on other platforms. It's been years since I've seen a YT comment begging for likes. So there probably won't be as many of these comments as you think.

yeah, if it happens, people who own the studio/project could make it a rule of no begging for likes. maybe we could get a sorting comment system like youtube.

maybe we could star comments, basically saving them just like star-ing projects.

Still, the pros outweigh the cons, if we're all so worried about like-grinding. Report button still exists, people often forget that.

imo liking MIGHT make this place (forums and comments) a lot more civilized, as we don't need to start threads saying “I agree”, we could just hit that like button. Everything would be more organized.

Also i'd like to suggest one addition - the ability to see which people liked a certain post. What do you guys think (think positive first or ima crash out)

that wouldn't be bad - as i said, maybe a star-ing system so you could save comments and look at em later instead of screenshotting.

I would call it bookmarking

we already have star-ing projects, why not comments?

The ability to see who exactly liked a post wouldn't be too bad, but I don't see many uses for it. It'd also probably be hard to load, since some comments would probably get hundreds, if not thousands, of likes.
I also believe it'd be better to “star” comments and not “like” them, same way we star projects.
As for bookmarking comments, what if we favorite them instead, just as we do projects?

i think we should just like have heart and star. heart is just liking a comment, and star let's you see it again. i don't think it would cause lag though, because there are projects that have a bunch of hearts and stars and don't produce lag from it. and maybe we could do like a remixing thing - you could remix a comment from another project, and have it in a different one. e.g. i say “food” on a project and someone remixes it on another.

Well, no, simply hearting or staring a comment won't produce any lag. It's when you attempt to see everyone who hearted/stared the comment that you'd get lag.

You have a few good points, but I'm just wondering if it's beneficial enough to be worth the effort on ST's part…
yeah, but also i think st would, because of the support aspect of it. st is all about supporting, and they rejected a dislike button, but said that they did NOT reject a like button for comments. i get it, because if you hate a comment that much, just report it. and a like button would be kinda cool, too. not like it'll show up on your profile or front page that you liked it, but show up on the commenters part

YT comments begging for likes are a LOT more common now. Plus this just doesn't make sense. Time moderators have to delete like begging comments and ‘'If YoU dOn’t lIkE tHIS cOmMeNt THen yOu wILL Be CURse!!!!!'' comments. Scratch is supposed to be educational not for liking comments. This suggestion would wastes the Scratch Team's time, energy, and resources for what?

well, that always happens with comments with likes. on yt, it happens too. should we get rid of liking comments on yt? also, the comments on scratch are ordered by which was posted most recently, so a “If YoU dOn't lIkE tHIS cOmMeNt THen yOu wILL Be CURse!!!!!” situation wouldn't really happen.

I dunno, maybe you and I just watch insanely different videos, but I have not seen a single comment begging for likes in any way, shape, or form. This suggestion is not meant to waste the Scratch Team's time (they've kinda been wasting time for a while on their own), it's meant to make this easier for the users and not clutter up replies.

Well the top comment of about 30% of the video's I've seen in the last week have some kind of comment that directly or indirectly asks for attention. And the problem is that they end up taking up the top comment space which could have been taken by something nicer or more informative.

If upvoted comments start ending up at the top of comment sections here, then creators are gonna have to delete it because no one wants the most popular comment of there hard worked game to be “I'll do one pushup for every upvote”.

Even if it is not common -which will likely not be the case based off the fact that this place is for literal children-, the fact that it WILL happen and annoy many creators even more than ads (that at the very least don't plague the top of the comments forever without manual deletion) should outweigh any benefits.

The most positive thing that could come of this suggestion that I can think of is that (sometimes) informative info could be kept up at the top of the comments. But it's unlikely that enough people could come together to actually support something useful. Instead of something purely funny (not useful) or even offencive (not likely but having tons of people see a humiliating comment and only realising it weeks later would be terrible).

That or upvoting doesn't bump comments and it's just better to say you agree and think the comment is smart instead of clicking some random button.
