My excuse for why Terratopia doesn't have a world saving feature (and probably never will), is that nothing lasts forever. Things change constantly, and you just have to move on. However, you might find some value/happiness in the temporary things. I've always envisioned Terratopia as a small and cozy game, with a lot of things to do, and adding a save feature would kinda mess with the integrity of my vision. Of course, the actual reason is that skill issue and laziness, but I just thought I should have a cool excuse for it.

What am I doing the exam is in 2 days and I'm coding status effects into Terratopia

By the way, I am planning 8 status effects to be added in 1.9. Dexterity, Burn, Poison, Exposure, Hardness, Storminess, Voided, and Confusion. I guess I could also add Hypothermia in a Christmas update or something. Freezing to death is definitely the holiday spirit!!

Added a new “Effect Timer” variable to make status effects work more reliably. Glad I managed to figure this out.
By the way, I have an exam tomorrow. Am I cooked

Now that I think about it, this whole “attack range & cooldown” and “status effect” thingies might make the game much more difficult to mod… Well, I'll try my best to keep them intuitively coded.
By the way I finished coding all of the upcoming status effects into the game, though some are still unobtainable…

So, yeah. Exams are over, meaning Terratopia is officially back in development.

Anyway here's a sneak peek at a Blast Furnace, a much more powerful variant of a Furnace. It's used for some relatively higher temperature smelting, though I'm not sure if I want to make smelting Mythril Ore blast-exclusive. Sure, it adds more reasons to justify the block's existence, but it also messes with the gameplay loop in a way that makes it less intuitive. What do you guys think?

It's an intentional choice. I wanted there to be danger all the time, unless you do something to avoid or mitigate the danger (building a shelter, etc). Of course, if you dislike combat in general, you can just play on Peaceful.

Oops, I lost the original thumbnail for 1.8.2. I'm hoping it somehow got archived somewhere (since the game is in a million different studios), but I'm too lazy to search and the Wayback Machine is blocked for me. So, unless someone can provide me with the files, I'll just keep this replacement thumbnail for 1.8.2's archive.

I'm seriously struggling to find a coherent theme for this update. I'm going with something related to bravery because new combat and weapons, but I feel like it's too similar to Weapons of Wisdom. I could also name it after Steel similar to the Iron Fist update or The Stone Age Update, but these materials ended up getting more fleshed out in later updates making the title somewhat redundant (Iron got two updates to himself). I guess I could do the Minecraft way and name it a synonym of “bountiful”, but what am I gonna do for the title screen art!?
