I worked it out, you don't drag+drop the zip file.hex but the .hex inside of it thanks for your advice!

hello! I found this hex file that works with micro:bit V2 for Scratch.

You must copy and paste this file into the micro:bit V2.

I have a microbit 2.21 and it works with scratch, just two things to note.
1. You need to download the hex file from here, and upload it to the microbit.
2. It is a bit annoying because the data of the microbit does not save across pages, meaning you have to keep repeatedly syncing it. I would suggest the MakeCode editor instead. Also, the MakeCode editor has more features for v2 microbits.

I’m also having the same problem and I downloaded Scratch’s hex file but it’s for v1.2.0 not v2.21

No it does work. i have a microbit v2.21 and it works completely fine. Make sure you have scratch link installed. after installing open it only one time. it will not show any windows as it is a backround service. then it will work

Also scratchs microbit .hex file works. mae sure you unzip the folder
