Why was the remix tree removed?
There is another topic for that bug: @remixtree (lowercase only) redirect occurs on user pagesI've found this:Well, it does make sense we have over 150 million users, you think all of them know that Remix Tree exists, and the Scratch Foundation must have paid for the Remix Tree server to stay up
Bugs and Glitches » Remix tree was redirected into remixesSorry - this is not a bug. That feature was removed back when we moved to 3.0. It remained accessible through the URL for a while. But it has not been a feature and it has not been supported. It was finally redirected when it was noted that it was possible (in some cases) to see deleted content through the remix tree.
However, the issue is that this has not only affected remixtrees but also the users who have remixtree in their username. I don't know how this could have happened. Was this rushed?

Why was the remix tree removed?
Removing the remix tree is a terrible decision. The normal “remixes” page takes literal days to update to show all the remixes of a project - remixtree was virtually instant. Remix tree was a really cool feature & I dont understand why removing an entire feature because of one bug was necessary. I wouldn't mind this change if the regular remixes page updated quicker but until then, I would prefer to see remixtree re-implemented with some bugs fixed.
