you need the javascript bookmarklet that I have.

your not meant to have gifs as thumbnails and the project well be NFE due to it causing problems on low end devices

I use an extension. They offer more than adding your own custom thumbnail.

download a GIF file, then upload it to Scratch. please note that making an animated thumbnail will lag the website and the Scratch Team will shadow ban your project

try griffpatch's chrome ext. and enable upload custom thumbnail. you can then upload your gif thumb
