The intercom of your rocket ship buzzes with static as a transmission is received.

Bzzzz… “Shuttle 639, prepare for docking in loading bay 3B.” Bzzz…

As your rocket ship slides into place along the main loading dock of the massive waystation, you’re able to take it all in. Outside your window, people busy themselves with preparations for your landing as your journey finally comes to a rest. As you relax in your seat, a cheery female voice filters through your intercom system. “Welcome, traveler. I am LYRA, Sci-fi Waystation’s artificial intelligence system. If you need something, just say: ‘LYRA’ and I will assist you.”

As her friendly voice filters out, a final transmission sounds through your rocket. “Welcome, new traveler! Please make your way to room 301 for orientation–and if you get lost, just ask LYRA for instructions!”

As you step into room 301, you notice a group of other space travelers, like you, socializing throughout the room. Their voices fade out as three cheerful faces step up to the podium in the front of the room. When the chatter has died down, a girl steps up to the speaker.

“Hello, new travelers! Welcome to Sci-fi Waystation! I’m Ava–crew head of this waystation. If you need anything, just ask.” She smiles brightly, points to an asteroid pin on her jacket, and gestures to the two people beside her, prompting them to step up to the stand.

hi i have to get my college apps in by my deadline (nov 1) and i could probably be better mentally so i can’t do as much as i used to

i would still love to be on the leadership team and can get tasks done before the deadline but swc itself can’t be a priority until november, so if there’s anything urgent i’ll get it done asap but i don’t know if i’ll be a very active participant in cabin preparation

i’m not going to go fully inactive at all, i just can’t invest that much energy into swc at the moment

please let me know if there’s anything specific to get done and i will do it, everything else will probably be on-and-off for a while. i can give you a rundown of my schedule if you want

No worries! Life > SWC! Also, I hope those college apps go well! Luckily for you we are TCTWNW, so please please please don’t feel any super obligation to contribute a bunch, especially before session starts.

On the topic of our cabin, my plan is to start working on my two highest priorities for our cabin specifically, so if there is anything either of you would like to contribute, feel free to draft something, or just point me in the direction of your wants! And if you haven’t noticed, I did make an account (@LYRA-ai ) for us/me to use to interact with campers in another fun way.

Project 1: Sci-fi Critiques (still working on a clever name for this): I mean…exactly what it sounds like. I think the most that needs to be done here is a project to be made and a form and forum for us to receive people’s wanted critiques and give critiques in a specific forum for it. Also question: should we restrict the use of this to sci-fi campers only? Should they pay in cabin currency or receive in cabin currency for doing this?

Project 2: Writing Database (still working on a better name for this): still what it sounds like, but either a forum list or a project containing links to previous weeklies, workshops (that are not going to be used in a weekly? or maybe ones that are going to be used in a weekly as well since we don’t earn points?), and maybe even something that we draft up if there is a topic we want to cover that we can’t find / hasn’t already been covered. The brunt of this would be making the list of the database and digging up links to forums/projects/weeklies/etc, and if we have a lot of time by writing our own mini lessons. In addition, they would earn in cabin currency to spend at sci-fi’s shop (and on their space ship interior / profile banner?)

I would like to get these up shortly, in a sense to sway a few on the fence campers toward TCTWNW. I think we can focus on daily prompts and exact sci-fi shop prizes a little bit later, since it’s not the biggest determiner of cabin joining.

i think people should definitely earn currency for writing critiques but we shouldn't make them spend to get one because that kind of defeats their purpose if that makes sense

i like the database idea and maybe there should be some way for campers to suggest things to add to it

also thoughts on cabin relations since other cabins are already starting those?

hey guys, so sorry I haven't contributed much recently. I was busy doing my tests but I'll try to give my ideas to make up for it!

I think the sci-fi critiques should be sci-fi only (we can use this too!) and how it differs from the usual critiquaire is probably how each critique done can boost LYRA's intelligence story-wise. as for the practical side I'm personally not too sure. and yea I agree with ivory we shouldn't restrict campers to spend cabin currency to do this. i think a good name would be information exchange? idk it sounds funny but if this concept powers up LYRA to be stronger I'm kinda all in for this

I really like the database idea! having a hub connecting to previously done weeklies is a smart idea! i think we can even add weeklies/dailies from previous sessions too!

speaking of cabin currency, I think we can go with bolts? since i think bolts fit with our whole sci-fi theme and also constructing ships and stuff

I also want to highlight LYRA's objective here. I think she could be established as a helper, a very good one at it in fact. She cares a lot for the campers, wanting them to feel at best inside the station and help satisfy all their needs. However, as the session progresses, LYRA realizes that this won't last forever, and they will abandon her in this station. Hence, she will gather all the knowledge from the critiques and databases, and try to prevent the campers from escaping, because the fun never ends (it's just an idea i decided to give LYRA so we understand her motive as we push the story forward)

We should definitely also look into relations with other cabins, if there are any either of you want we can reach out, or we can just look and see what cabins do/don’t currently have.

i have a few hesitations when it comes to cabin relations but the ones we have so far sound great

also marbles, we are giving you homework, give me your favorite genre of music and i will give you a taylor swift song to listen to (2/3 of scifi is made up of swifties and it would be fun to make that 3/3)

yes please! october came WAY too fast, I forgot how fast everything moves :sob: last week of cross country this week, tech week and finals next week, start of new term the week after that and show week and halloween ;-;
