So, I'm wondering… I've heard that Toby Fox said Deltarune only has one ending, but there are still choices to be made in the game. So, do your choices matter at all? Can they affect things in other chapters or do they just change the context of the story since you can pick up any of the chapters at any time?

So, I'm wondering… I've heard that Toby Fox said Deltarune only has one ending, but there are still choices to be made in the game. So, do your choices matter at all? Can they affect things in other chapters or do they just change the context of the story since you can pick up any of the chapters at any time?He is talking about how the prophecy only has 1 ending but the whole point of what gerson was trying to tell you was that there is no 1 definitive ending but that you can change the ending in whatever way you want

Sobbing, my mom is mad at me because spamton is homeless. She says “WHY DOESN'T TORIEL TAKE CARE OF HIM?! THEY'RE BOTH IN DELTARUNE” and I tell her why and then she says “WHY DOESN'T LANCER OR PAPYRUS TAKE CARE OF HIM?!” So now I have to draw Toriel taking care of Spamton so she doesn't stay mad at me

Well, for the most part your choices don't matter much: in chapter 1 if you fight everyone or spare everyone only one encounter gives a different outcome. The other chapters are a little more decision-based. Some content in chapters 2 and 3 is only accessible if you spare certain characters.
Overall though, the base of the story is totally unchanged no matter what you do. Well, except for the weird route. But that's different.
