Quality Games Studio

All of Scratch's community guidelines apply here, if someone were to ask.

So, what's this studio about?
Quality Games Studio is a (yet) early-stage studio focused on making and publishing high-quality games that provide a good user experience and leave a mark on Scratch as some of the best games made in a while.

There's other studios named Quality Games Studio.
If it offends you in some way, I'm sorry. Quality Games just was something that I came up with. The name may change in the future.

How does this studio differ from other game-making studios?
Quality Games is planning on actually making high-quality games. Those that anyone would at least try. Those games that impress both new and more experienced Scratch users.
I've seen studios fall before getting to make anything really ready, and even though many get to finish their product, most of them are not games with a truly excellent UI combined with skill, animations and other stuff. Even though I'm tolerant and ready to make compromises and amicable solutions, it doesn't mean that everything will be accepted into a game under work.
Quality Games aims to making quality games.

How many games are/will be under development?
One.

How large is this studio aiming to be?
Pretty small. Three to five people could be a good amount. I'm not aiming to be bossing around so many scratchers, and with more people, one person could lose motivation due to not being able to work, because waiting times to get the project would be bigger. One loss can easily lead to many losses, until the studio falls.

Speaking of bossing around, how much will that be happening if I apply?
I'll publish the game on my account, since shared accounts are prohibited due to moderation difficulties. I've also invited a way to quickly and methodically pass the game in progress around between users, ensuring efficient and equal work, and that might feel like bossing around as I tell everyone what to do.
Still, I wouldn't have the rights to publish the game if I didn't actually make a notable portion of the game myself. That's why I've already fully designed one big game already, and I could give it a big kickstart.

How difficult would it be working here?
I'll be always making sure that everything works and everyone understands what's going on from time to time, and that may require either days of waiting or constant pressure via profile comments to finish your part quickly. It can feel super frustrating, but keep in mind: We all are impatient, every single one around the globe… And if you apply, we all are going to be aiming for high quality games.
Thus, you need to be ready for small pressures, waiting and watching others either understand too well or not understand at all. You need to be ready to be lectured about a topic. You need to be ready to remain silent and tell your feedback when it's appropriate.
Still, keep in mind: I am not a psychopath. I'm not aiming on making you feel bad about the project. Instead, I'm gonna be trying to ensure that not everyone has to wait for long, and that may require speeding you up and making you follow a system.
One thing there is, though, that makes many things easier: We don't have a deadline or a schedule.

How skilled do I need to be?
You need to be capable of coding games on your own, were you an animator or a programmer. The better you are at coding, the easier it is for you to understand what to do next. I can explain anything that you ask me about the project, but general skill in Scratch helps widely. Details will be seen in the application.

How active do I need to be?
Kinda active. There might be activity checks (here in the forum) every now and then, and two days after a check, a notice will be sent to your profile if you haven't answered. Not being active results in a warning or, in worst cases, straight up removal from the studio.

Again, what requirements are there in total?
critical requirements
- Pretty high skill in coding
- Pretty high activity (4 times/week)
- Good motivation
- Believing in yourself
- Experience in Scratch
- Politeness
good-to-have qualities
- High skill in coding
- Some understanding of game design
- High activity
- Excellent motivation
- Politeness
- Creativity
fully optional but excellent if had
- Understanding game design
- Understanding animation
- Game tester abilities
- Ability to compose music
- Character design capabilities
- Translating ability
- Sound design capabilities

When will the project start?
When I see that we have enough good members, I'll do an activity check, close applications and we'll begin.

How do I apply?
The application form is below. It's pretty long to let me know how motivated you are to participate in the game and how you can participate the most effectively.

……..Don't you know how to apply? I can help.

Step 1: see the big message up there
Step 2: copy the application form from the big message
Step 3: fill the application form
Step 4: submit it right here
Step 5: wait for the feedback.

That's basically it.

Feedback:
Your coding and art skills are pretty badly below the line, sorry about that. However, you'd be a super valuable participant in terms of music, and you could very well design lots of stuff, in which you seem good at. The particle animating sounds promising, too. Your experience in working within studios is a giant plus. You know how forums work, too.
Still, I have something about the music - it has the perfect amount of digitality, if you know what I mean, but it's missing bass and long low pads and some other sounds like that. Before potentially accepting you as the composer, I gotta ask you a few extra questions:

1. How active can you be? (sorry, “activity possibilities” wasn't really well written.)
2. What software for making music?
3. Any analog instruments?

Previous experience from other studios means if you've been at other game-making studios yet, but seems like you haven't.

So, feedback:
I know you're an insanely good artist, which is super valuable, and activity is the key, but you said that the other key, motivation, is a little lacking with you. Still, you don't really need to worry about forgetting us if you check Scratch nearly every day. Activity checks exist, too.
Conclusion is that we could probably see about your motivation later on. I believe in you! I hope we will have a fun and long journey ahead!

Hello, and thanks for the application!
Your activity in a week is really the only thing that can make working here harder. Otherwise you are really good to join! Your skills are very noticeable, and you can even do art! I'd say you should become a miscellaneous worker, who sometimes designs, sometimes codes. As for the activity, try to check the messages every day. It only takes on maximum a couple of minutes.

Welcome to Quality Games Studio

Remember:
- Your activity is highly valued
- Activity checks occur here and might appear when you least expect them

There are more things on my profile

13. Previous experience from other studios: Nothing significant. Aside from being an owner at Advanced Alpha Games Studio, but I failed that whole thing so bad.
14. Other notes: I hope you can consider me even with the limited amount of items on my resume! I admire the rigidity in how you want to run this collaboration.
