Actually, has no-one noticed this before? They have added the dropdown with next costume, previous costume and random costume. I've seen this for a while now. Has no-one checked before?
I checked a few seconds ago and I don't see a next or previous costume. Are you sure you're it's not a browser extension causing this?

They might be talking about the ‘switch backdrop’ block, not the ‘switch costume’ block.

There's a way to do this- Im not sure if this already is here, but I would love a block called previous costume.
switch costume to [previous costume v]Make this block by naming a costume “previous costume” and then deleting said costume.

Also, shouldn't Scratch just add it as an option if it works??This has been mentioned many times already.There's a way to do this- Im not sure if this already is here, but I would love a block called previous costume.switch costume to [previous costume v]Make this block by naming a costume “previous costume” and then deleting said costume.

yes deffinitley! this is what i also wanted!That's why I still think this is a good solution.Making it I support.too easier, however, is a problem, because if we made a block for every easy workaround, we will end up adding a bunch of unnecessary blocks, clogging up the library. There needs to be a balance, and I believe Scratch currently has it.
For all those people that are saying you can do it with the costume # - 1 workaround, ok you're right, but why did the Scratch team decide to make a ‘next costume’ block? Probably to make it easier. I think it is easier to understand with a next and previous block.[next v] costume ::looksDon't make a new block, just update the one we have now so it makes more sense.
[previous v] costume ::looks

And? It might be confusing for new scratchers to do the workaround if they are first time. Don't support. The workaround it very easy

(#635)Agreed. I originally came to this thread on my old account simply because I was young and had no dang idea how to make my own previous costume block & ended up with a really inefficient piece of code that I used for ages.And? I'm in support, it just makes sense for a next costume to have a previous costume too, even if the solution is simple, but its just a simple idea that a block should have an opposite too. While yes, it teaches true beginners to scratch more about operators or custom blocks, it just feels like a small addition that would make a good impact. There are many, maaany ways to solve it with at least 2 steps, but I still think it would just make sense for one block already pre-set to do a previous costume. Basically, while there's a simple work around, it would be much easier and straightforward for there to be a previous costume.

support, it makes sense to have an equivalent, especially since backdrop has one.
also, isn't scratch all about making things friendly for new scratchers?
