this is the planning forum of the fantasy cabin in the upcoming november session of swc (scratch writing camp). this forum will contain major spoilers for our cabin, so if you are not a part of the leadership team, I would respectfully ask that you leave! swc runs on an honor system <33

I’ve co-led in swc 3 times and I’ve led and hosted some smaller camps but this is my first session as a swc leader so bear with me ;) I play viola, love cats, and do lots of art! storyline stuff:

here’s my general idea again, just way more fleshed out so it’s easier to build from! obviously everything is still subject to change—I love to work things out as a team and nothing is final <3

our theme is based on persona 5— but you don’t need to be familiar with the game! everything will be explained so it’s inclusive to the campers! it’s preferred that yall know a little about the universe but it’s okay if you don’t <3

campers are phantom thieves, a secret group of rebels who awaken special powers called “personas” and fight against the distorted desires in people's hearts. each camper creates a character (and persona?)

something mysterious is going on in the world and campers investigate the mystery tied to a palace (a dreamlike place in the metaverse shaped by someone’s distorted desires). their job is to enter the palace and steal the “treasure” to cause a change of heart in the villain who rules over it.

so yeah! that’s the basic idea! as I’m sure yall can tell, this idea needs to be fleshed out more, so don’t be afraid to give your ideas <333

specific things:

character creation! campers fill out a character questionnaire and oc (phantom thief name, personality, backstory) and their persona (name, lore, powers, what it represents). we could draw these out for campers?

we could also introduce a mascot/guide sort of thing who helps explain the metaverse! morgana vibes?

then, campers can learn about the villain, explore the palace, prep for the heist, send a calling card, fight the villain’s shadow, and steal the treasure!

for designing, persona 5 has a very bold and unique style, as I was trying to recreate in my leader app (why does this feel like an ad for my leader app sobbing) (here’s some examples of what that’s like here (there’s some resources in there too)) so lots and lots of red, white, and black!

I love love love storyline intensive cabins! however, in the past, most of my cabins didn’t end up finishing their carefully planned storylines (and it takes work to plan a storyline so it makes me sad :/ ) so I would love to made some backup plans :sparkles:

the goal is a lovely cabin that isn't too ambitious—I’m hoping we can polish and prepare a basic idea and then add on the ambitious stuff if we want or have time!

I plan to send out a weekly schedule thing with our to-dos and priorities! I’ll also keep a running to-do list in this main post <33
