To prevent against hackers, I have a crazy suggestion. You don’t have to take this seriously as it would be a little of work. Shut down scratch for a few days, then put it back up. You can use this time to add any improvements you need to add, and hopefully, this will discourage hackers. Like I said, crazy idea.

They already take the site down from time to time to improve the site, so implemented already?

Yeah but, make it seem like their turning it off for good to discourage hackers, then give it a week or so, then turn it back on.

OMG, I AM UN HAPPY SCRATCH OF THIS HACKER ISSUES!

Tbh partial support because whilst I do think that turning Scratch off for a while might give the ST time to do things and like make their work easier. THis is good. However, I think,. that if you would use this very often, then this might harm the site and community. It is important for an online site and ommunnity like scratch to be online a lot so that new people can join, code and discover (and so much more).
If you had like a monthly time where you turned scratch off and them maintained it, that would be better imo.

I don't see the point of this, making the site go offline isn't gonna prevent hackers. They'll just come back when the sites back up, and besides scratch takes the site down temporarily all the time. Also I would prefer if they didn't go offline for a couple of weeks.

Someone said that they'll just come back when this site is back up, which I think is true— however, it's also worth noting that their whole goal is to mess things up for the average Scratcher, and if Scratch becomes unsable for days at a time— we would be giving them exactly what they want.

It'll also be a nightmare for teachers.

Yeah, these are good points. We only take Scratch down when an update requires it - which is pretty rare.
