Formally Discourage Mini-Modding
Well, the community guidelines won't stop someone from breaking them, but I believe your point is that the “bad” mini-mod posts are often already in violation of the community guidelines and thus are reportable. That's not true. That's just things no users should do period. The downsides of mini-modding are listed earlier in the topic. When did I say only mini-modders have these rules? I was saying that the CG and its rules will prevent most of the downsides to be invalid.

That is exactly what I meant, yes.
The “good” mini-mod posts would be useful to Scratch, as some people get confused over warn notes (aka warnings).
The thing about warn notes is that they don't specify what part of the comment/project broke the CG.
For example, one person could have their project taken down for including FNAF content (something as small as images of a character), and the message would say to keep the site for all ages.
That person would (most likely) then be confused, and wouldn't know what was wrong with the project.

Depends on what is mini-modding. What's wrong with pointing out duplicates or rejected suggestions with links if you don't tell people that your reporting them. uggh it angers me so much when people say this though

When did I say only mini-modders have these rules? I was saying that the CG and its rules will prevent most of the downsides to be invalid. You said “Almost all the downsides of mini-modding are already structured by the CG”, as if those are the only things that mini-mods do. They do more that isn't listed in the the CG.
Could you elaborate why you don't think that's true? Where do you draw the line at what a user should and should not be permitted to do?This quote should explain it:
-snip-Exactly. Users looking out for each other is what I want to see. I do NOT want you to leave a message on my profile, criticize me, and act like you're Paddle2See. No. You can get off my page with that mess. Because all I'mma do is drag you by the lace front until you shut up.
I'd rather see an encouragement that rather than just saying “Don't do xyz” or launching into a detailed outline and/or essay, one encourages the user to add their two cents to the topic in a polite and friendly manner. I say this because I feel as though using “mini-modding” as peer-to-peer encouragement to improve would stick better than someone receiving a honestly corporate-sounding warning.

They did specify that the downsides of mini-mods are often already against community guidelines. My post at the top of the page states what they were trying to say in more clear terms. When did I say only mini-modders have these rules? I was saying that the CG and its rules will prevent most of the downsides to be invalid. You said “Almost all the downsides of mini-modding are already structured by the CG”, as if those are the only things that mini-mods do. So, “bad” mini-modding?Exactly. Users looking out for each other is what I want to see. I do NOT want you to leave a message on my profile, criticize me, and act like you're Paddle2See. No. You can get off my page with that mess. Because all I'mma do is drag you by the lace front until you shut up.
I disagree, I see that as “good” mini-modding. Your definition of mini-modding seems to focus on what I find to be the “bad side” of mini-modding. My definition takes a more general view of what is mini-modding. I prefer to categorize my more general view into “good” and “bad.” Telling a user “don't necropost” without further, polite explanation is what I'd call “bad mini-modding.”Depends on what is mini-modding. And what I mean by mini-modding is stuff like excessive bulletined lists and constant stalking/warnings from someone who isn't on the Scratch Team.First off
- These strike me as two completely different things
- Bulleted lists are not annoying? Great way to make things more readable
- Don't know what constitutes “stalking” but I agree that getting constant warnings from non-ST people seems annoying (although they could just report?)

I used bulleted lists not literally. Just to present an idea of what these people do. I never said they were annoying. You do not have to sound all “office clerk” to report someone publicly. It’s just annoying and does more harm than good if you aren’t in the authority to do so.And what I mean by mini-modding is stuff like excessive bulletined lists and constant stalking/warnings from someone who isn't on the Scratch Team.First off

Oh yeah that's reasonable. I just feel like mini-modding is too broad and it would be good to deal with specific mini-modding thingsI used bulleted lists not literally. Thats exactly why I said “almost”. However, the rest of the downsides I had not listed are not serious, unless, of course, the CG invalidates them.
Also, you said
That's not true. That's just things no users should do period. The downsides of mini-modding are listed earlier in the topic.
Why did you put “That's just things no users should do period” When I was talking about how the downsides of mini-modding are already reportable by the CG

Why did you put “That's just things no users should do period” When I was talking about how the downsides of mini-modding are already reportable by the CGI believe they meant that’s like.. common sense for any user. Whether that be a New Scratcher, Scratcher, Mini-Mod, Scratch Team Member, etc.

Yes, but why is that related to mini-mod rules?
Lets just get back on topic.

What I meant was mini-mods are supposed to follow those rules regardless of whether they classify and mini-mods or not. That's common sense, as Cam said, and isn't even a fragment of the main issue with them.I believe they meant that’s like.. common sense for any user. But that does not relate to the downsides of mini-mods. Give me the downsides of mini-mods I have not talked about, and I will address counters.
